Poster 5: D. Shevela, J. Kern, J. Whitmarsh, J. Messinger and G. Govindjee (2021). Photosystem II: Enzyme That Gives Us Molecular Oxygen, Agrisera Educational Poster 5, doi: 10.6084/m9.figshare.14802924.v1 Photosynthesis is the process through which a plant creates its own energy using sunlight. To go into a bit more detail, plants use sunlight to synthesise the nutrients they collect from carbon dioxide and water to make a kind of sugar called glucose.

Light is one factor that affects the rate of photosynthesis. For example, if light intensity is decreased, this will result in a decrease in the rate of photosynthesis. Other factors such as the levels of carbon dioxide, presence of chlorophyll, water and temperature can also affect the rate. Let's have a look at the word "Photo" means light, “Synthesis” means to make - and that's exactly what it does. So, plants harness the energy from the sun to make food. An old textbook fact being false is a controversial and surprising topic which you can easily sum up in a headline. We've already seen that photosynthesis produces oxygen, but the other product is glucose. This glucose is the fuel plants need for energy and to grow. So, essentially, plants make their own food and in turn, animals rely on plants for their food. Now that you know everything about scientific posters, it’s time to create your own. Poster 6: B. C. Meyers, J. Zhan, D. Shevela and R. K. Slotkin (2022). Plant Small RNAs: Biogenesis and Functions, Agrisera Educational Poster 6, doi: 10.6084/m9.figshare.21186073 Photosynthesis is the process that plants go through to make food by using sunlight and chlorophyll to turn water and carbon dioxide into nutrients. This beautifully presented photosynthesis poster is a brilliant supporting resource to use when teaching a unit all about plants, plant growth and plant reproduction!

Many scientists, researchers and medical experts use scientific posters to explain their findings in a simple and easy-to-understand format. What is the purpose of a scientific poster? The glucose that plants produce is sometimes stored in fruits and roots - this is why we can eat apples, and oranges, and other plant-based foods. Top Teaching Resources on Plants and Photosynthesis The reactions of photosynthesis occur in two phases: the light-independent reactions, and the light-independent reactions (aka the Calvin cycle) A scientific poster should include an easy-to-follow layout, graphics and color schemes that don’t take away from the reading experience. Successful scientific posters also use short sentences, simple language and bullet points. How do you write a good scientific poster? Do you remember walking down school halls and seeing the bulletin board right next to the science laboratory?
