About this deal

According to The Skulduggery Pleasant Grimoire, Valkyrie chose her first name on account of Gordon Edgley referring to her as his "little Valkyrie". Sometime during his career as a detective, a band of goblins would steal his skull and he would continue using one which he had won in a poker game until it was recovered by Valkyrie Cain in 2009. After Valkyrie acquires the brooch the next day, she and Skulduggery meet Mr. Bliss, who has agreed to help them get the Sceptre from the caves, at a Martello tower on the cliffs of Haggard. They show him the brooch, and he pushes Skulduggery off the cliff. Skulduggery suggests opening the box to find out if the insect is even in the box. Scaramouch places the container on the floor and opens the lid. The insect rises out and lands on the floor. Skulduggery squishes it just as Valkyrie walks in. She uses air magic and the two arrest Scaramouch. Scaramouch is outraged when Valkyrie doesn't recognise him. She, on the other hand, claims that they have real bad guys to stop, but cuffs Scaramouch anyway. As they walk out, Skulduggery tells Scaramouch that there should be more people who want to take over the world and that all the other bad guys think that it's just silly. Stephanie and Skulduggery, aided by an immensely strong tailor named Ghastly Bespoke, and English professional swordswoman Tanith Low attempt to prevent the villain, Nefarian Serpine, from obtaining the Sceptre.

Sanguine considers finishing off Darquesse with the God-killer dagger while she's hibernating but decided to put it off a bit to keep things cool between him and Tanith. Tanith considers killing Sanguine as he does not see Darquesse as his Messiah as the remnant in Tanith does. Friday Night Fights: (3–4) Sometime before Dark Days, The story of how Valkyrie Cain and Caelan met each other. Valkyrie and Skulduggery travel to Roarhaven to visit the new Sanctuary. Before they do so, Valkyrie saves an American tourist family from a horrible shopkeeper, who happens to despise mortals. Valkyrie and Skulduggery reach the Sanctuary and meet with the Council of Elders where they discuss the apparent Death Bringer, Melancholia. Ravel agrees to provide any resource needed to know more about the Passage. Skulduggery, you’ve been to some really dark places. I’ve been there, too. The people we become... It just doesn’t end well. It stops being fun. That’s when we know that we’ve crossed a line - when it stops being fun. I don’t want to stop having fun right now. I’m in a good mood these days, I have a good life, I’m in love, everything’s going well … Please, let’s keep having fun. Please." — Valkyrie, Skulduggery Pleasant: Dead or Alive Valkyrie Cain Eight weeks after the Summer of Light, Grand Mage Erskine Ravel issued a proclamation that Detectives Pleasant and Cain had disappeared and that Silas Nadir had escaped custody during the confusion Argeddion had caused.

Skulduggery accepted that Valkyrie was Darquesse very easily, due to the fact that he possessed a ferocious dark side in the form of Lord Vile. However, it took Valkyrie a bit longer to accept that Skulduggery had once been the evilest and powerful Necromancer in the history of magic. She eventually forgave him and Skulduggery also managed to snap her out of Darquesse's control, after fighting off his own dark side during their ferocious battle. Valkyrie helps in the preparations for the final fight against Darquesse. She is given a tattoo of the Meryyn Sigil by China. The sigil grants her twenty-three minutes of invulnerability and super-strength after three tests have been completed in the Necropolis. Skulduggery completes the first two and Scapegrace the second. Valkyrie goes up against Darquesse, destroying buildings and cars in the process. When the sigil is about to time out, Darquesse has Valkyrie defeated, but she is saved by Lord Vile and Melancholia St. Clair. Darquesse sets off a devastating explosion which Valkyrie survives in the last seconds of the Meryyn Sigil's invulnerability. Vile also survives, but Melancholia is killed instantly. The explosion destroyed an entire quarter of Roarhaven. Valkyrie is brought to the Medical Wing by Tanith, but she denies needing treatment and heads out to find the Deathtouch Gauntlet and a Sunburst. She eventually finds her parents in the ruins of the city, running towards her with Alice. Valkyrie asks to borrow Alice to put a protective charm over her. Her parents believe the lie, and Valkyrie takes alice to a secluded area. She kills Alice with the Deathtouch Gauntlet, claims the Sceptre of the Ancients, then revives her baby sister. Valkyrie is horrified at what she did and later suffers from PTSD and depression due to this act.

Billions of lives will be wiped away in a final, desperate search for Alice, the Child of the Faceless Ones – she who is destined to bring about the return of humankind's ancient overlords. To prevent this, Skulduggery Pleasant and Valkyrie Cain have one last – terrible – option: the assassination of Damocles Creed. With protests stirring in the magical city of Roarhaven, with riots and revolutions on the horizon, Valkyrie must decide who she wants to be: the hero who risks everything for a noble ideal, or the killer who sacrifices her own soul for the fate of humanity. The decision must be made, and time is running out. [28] Until the End [ edit ] The following morning, Valkyrie heads over to Fergus and Beryl’s house. Their daughter, Crystal, answers the door and accuses Valkyrie of getting close to Gordon so that she would get his inheritance. Beryl appears and says that Gordon’s brooch is ugly and doesn’t go with anything else she has. She then mentions that she say Valkyrie drive away with Skulduggery Pleasant yesterday. Stephanie says they must have been mistaken and asks to use their bathroom, and, when in the house, sneaks into Fergus and Beryl’s bedroom and steals the brooch. Later, Valkyrie and Skulduggery meet Mr. Bliss, who is supposed to accompany them to the Caves, but he steals the brooch from them for Serpine.Skuluggery takes Stephanie to visit Ghastly Bespoke, his tailor, in what appears to be a rundown neighbourhood, as his family has a large collection of art and books about the Ancients that may prove to be useful. Ghastly begins making notes to make an outfit for Stephanie that will keep her safe. Skulduggery tells him they need his help, and Stephanie says they think Serpine is after the Sceptre. Ghastly says that that is foolish, as the Sceptre doesn’t exist, and that she doesn’t know enough about this world to understand that. He chastises her for seemingly enjoying this when she is in danger and not taking things seriously. The start arguing and Stephanie storms out. Ghastly calls Skulduggery irresponsible for taking Stephanie along with him and states that he won’t give them access to his family’s collection.
