Both their stories are tragic, a horrible childhood and an abusive relationship won’t let your attention slip for a second and it was so well-written that it couldn’t be any other way then that they krept under my skin. Overall, I am a new fan of Melinda Leigh, and I definitely recommend you check out the Bree Taggert series if you love procedurals! My other issue is that once you get over the half way mark it all starts rolling downhill relatively quickly, and that's when you're going to want to read it in one sitting because it's so whack-a-doodle you'll be confused if you put it down a few times. Lisa is reserved, wary of everyone except for one friend at work; Ava is much more at ease in social situations, on the verge of losing her virginity with an attractive boy she has selected for the event.
