It’s wonderful to have Emily, Julia, and Stacey joining us and I hope you’ll be very happy working here. You don’t get a lot from the blurb, which I normally like, except in cases where the book is marketed as one genre and ends up being an entirely different one. To access your ebook(s) after purchasing, you can download the free Glose app or read instantly on your browser by logging into Glose. She wants to live like a normal teenager—chill with friends, go to swim practice, study for exams, have a boyfriend.

Teaming up with Justin’s old friend, former sheriff’s investigator and K-9 handler Matt Flynn, Bree vows to uncover the secrets of her sister’s life and death, as she promised Erin’s children. Sarah Pinborough has written over twenty novels from modern re-telling of fairy tales and Victorian crime to her current genre of psychological thrillers (and I say ‘current’ because this lady seems capable of turning her hand to any genre she fancies). Jodie’s mum does interior design or something for big posh houses, and she has a boyfriend in Paris where she’s currently living while she works on some project. I most definitely will be looking at the rest of the series as well as anything else this author has written. I’d thought I had a few go-to thriller authors prior to this year, but I don’t think I’ve read a single thriller this year that has really impressed me even from authors I’ve loved before. The one element that sets Pinborough’s novel apart from the slew of similar thrillers is the emphasis on female empowerment and the power of female relationships. I would say more on this, but it would have to include spoilers which I dislike doing in my reviews. One thick black eyebrow, filled in with pencil, wriggles like a slug on her olive face as she tries to raise it suggestively.

But I so enjoyed “13 Minutes” I wanted to give her books another chance, in case “Behind Her Eyes” was a fluke.

Both their stories are tragic, a horrible childhood and an abusive relationship won’t let your attention slip for a second and it was so well-written that it couldn’t be any other way then that they krept under my skin. Then Ava performs a sudden, heroic act at a local festival, saving a small child from drowning in a river. While relaxing with friends at the village festival, Ava hears yelling and sees a small boy has fallen into the river. But underneath the polite, old money manners, she knows she’ll always be an outsider, and her hard-won life hangs by a thread.

That song on the radio, the toy left abandoned on her street and the missing photo from her house, they could all be coincidences. The actual reasoning behind this is that given the mystery element to both books I don’t really want to elaborate on the plot as that will involve giving aways spoilers and ruining the surprises for others. Her recent novels include the dystopian love story, The Death House, and a teenage thriller, 13 Minutes which has been bought by Netflix with Josh Schwartz adapting.

Overall, I am a new fan of Melinda Leigh, and I definitely recommend you check out the Bree Taggert series if you love procedurals! My other issue is that once you get over the half way mark it all starts rolling downhill relatively quickly, and that's when you're going to want to read it in one sitting because it's so whack-a-doodle you'll be confused if you put it down a few times. Lisa is reserved, wary of everyone except for one friend at work; Ava is much more at ease in social situations, on the verge of losing her virginity with an attractive boy she has selected for the event. On the face of it I’ve probably made this sound pedestrian but what begins to seep out is a much darker story and a past that refuses to remain buried all blended in with a sense of impending doom. But when a handsome client shows an interest in her, Lisa starts daydreaming about sharing her life with him, too. com crime fiction blog featuring reviews, author guest posts and other fabulous booky things (with the odd psychological thriller and horror novel making an appearance! Her daughter Ava has her own issues to deal with including an overprotective mother, exams and pressure from her friends to move her relationship with her boyfriend to the next level.
