About this deal

The B48 was subsequently raced by Eddie Jordan and Brian Robinson, who eventually converted it to a Donington GT car with a Lotus Espirit body. It is eligible for hillclimbing competitions and is notably pre-selected to take part at Pikes Peak. The reason for the sale is that I now have a different competition car and the Kaimann will not get used. The car was converted from Zytek to DTA ignition and a new intercooler was fitted to to be on the safe side (original pipework with car to revert to original if required). The car also benefits from a recent Simpson exhaust system, freshly rebuilt Konis and a bulletproof Hewland FG 400 gearbox.

We bought this car from Simon Leeming (via Bill Rawles) in 2020 to replace a lovely late Mk 3 Healey 3000 which my wife Claire had long competed with, but was sadly wrecked in a fire drama on her way back from Gurston in 2019.It was also driven by long term competitor, Speedscene editor and columnist, Jerry Sturman at Prescott in 1989. It has provided its pensioner owner with 10 years of trouble-free and economical competition before I purchased an historic FF. Completely stripped of all panels and chassis shot-blasted and powder coated by Top Colour, with high spec paintwork by KB Cars Ltd.

It is a good specification with a larger capacity fuel tank and radiator fitted making it ideal for sprints or hillclimbs. The file also includes several restoration photos and a film of the car made at the 2006 Dellows Meeting at Shelsley Walsh, where the car attracted much attention. It is complete with a set of FF steel wheels with tyres, a fitted cover, tonneau and a history file including invoices for work carried out, a Motorsport UK log book and NZ papers. Most recently very successful in European hillclimbs and expertly maintained, with all major components lifed. The T65 has raced at all the major Grand Prix Circuits and many other major events including Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen and the Vernasca Silver Flag.

In 2012 the car was withdrawn from active competition and an engine rebuild and full body restoration was carried out, before the current owner (a classic car mechanic) bought it as a partly completed project.
