About this deal

The setting is in the Hardcastle crags area of Yorkshire and there is a bleakness to it which is quite pleasing. Certainly this is a slow-burn novel, and yet whilst there were chapters where not very much actually happened, I found myself enjoying the small details and interactions between the characters, which I think is credit to the author. All the chores Nurse May has to accomplish, washing and dressing the children, cleaning the nursery, noting how all their clothing fits them badly and how all but Charley needs new shoes, and being entertainer in chief. If anything, Lilian seems worn down by the influence of her powerful family, the Greatrexes, only really coming to life when away from Hardcastle House.

An Extra Pair of Hands by Kate Mosse is a brilliant read that celebrates both the fragility and resilience of human existence. Precíz és a múltat felidéző prózájával Stacey Halls sokkoló, lenyűgöző és teljes mértékben valós világot varázsol elénk. However they just delved too deep into the unimportant ‘fillers’ of the book and didn’t spend enough time talking about any of the interesting moments throughout. Her strong, silent husband deals with her clamour for attention by declaring that he speaks to her with his heart. It is a heartening novel, because though it asks the reader to think hard, it puts its faith in simplicity and love.England is mentally unwell, and her husband is a bit overly familiar with Ruby on occasion, which puts her at odds with the staff. From the stunning cover design, the enticing premise, the Edwardian era setting and location at Hardcastle House in West Yorkshire, Mrs England is everything I love in historical fiction. Mrs England by Stacey Halls is a gothic mystery set in a grand house in Edwardian Yorkshire where a nanny realises the family holds a dark secret. Why does the enigmatic Mrs England rarely make an appearance, why must the nursery door be locked at night, and why are the servants so hostile?

In the beginning, all the main characters seem a bit unreliable and it’s difficult to know who to trust.Quindi questo è l'unico elemento debole di un libro altrimenti molto bello: il dover individuare un antagonista a tutti i costi per esaltare altri personaggi, quasi dovendo andare sopra alle righe per riuscire a gestire un certo sviluppo prefissato. The staff at Hardcastle House was not welcoming, and Ruby had to do many things she hadn't done in her first position. Ruby May is unable to immigrate to the United States with her employers, so and in dire need of funds, she accepts a Nanny position, working for Charles and Lilian England. I thought one incident in the book was probably impossible until reading a note from the author, following the text, that explained it conveyed something that actually happened.
