About this deal

Of course, I’d wanted to keep up my adventures and was nervous about the responsibilities that would come with fatherhood.

He comes across eager to seize every, and any, opportunity to learn about other cultures to our own, and give a voice to the marginalised. At some point in conjunction with reading this book, I decided to watch the Tropic of Cancer series (which is readily available on iPlayer) and was a little disappointed to discover that this book is pretty much the written version of the series (the same can be said for the Indian Ocean series, too) with little additional information provided here. Having read his previous book Step By Step, I wasn’t sure if he was able to equal it, but he does just that and more, following him into the next stage of his life and travels. I don't care if his life is in danger as he travels, because of his past responsibility of alleged second-degree murder, or at least manslaughter (he sold knives knowingly to violent thugs who then murdered others with them - something he never even contemplates a need to atone for or self-blame). More than an autobiography really, it's a travel book and a deep dive into the damage we are doing to our planet.Often the projects I work on are complex and overwhelming and it’s my job to make sure problems are overcome.

While the books do contain elements of extreme hate, and even attempted murder between teenagers, the story is laid out in a way where you can see the battle between good and evil—darkness and light—fighting it out to the death. Journeys to Impossible Places continues the story Simon started in his phenomenal Sunday Times best seller Step by Step, which traced the first decades of his life from depressed and unemployed teenager through to his early TV programmes. I do highly recommend it, but ONLY if the reader sticks it all the way through to reading all three books. The most moving and exhilarating button-tweaking journey I’ve taken’: Simon Reeve with his son Jake, when he was a baby. Plan your journey and find more route information in ‘ Your Visit’ or book your car parking space in advance.

Arrested by the KGB, chased by cheetahs, hunting with the Bushmen of the Kalahari… Simon Reeve has lived quite a life. It is important that we continue to promote these adverts as our local businesses need as much support as possible during these challenging times.

Simon Reeve explores the Lake District in his new series

The most fatal flaw is that Simon is under the impression he is personally interesting, not 'famous' due to the destinations and individuals he meets. We’ve lived several lives and that’s an incredible thing when lots of people feel tied to a certain life. Biography: Simon Reeve is an author and adventurer who has travelled to more than 130 countries, making multiple award-winning TV series exploring and explaining the world. I was pulled through the story, willing the light to win, learning the lessons right along with the characters, and allowing my heart to change as the characters hearts changed. However, the author's honesty, modesty, and decency shine through these pages - and if this makes others aware of the challenges people and animals around the world are facing, and are motivated to act, reading the 'shade' will be well worth while.I tried to keep a sense of perspective – refraining from announcing our offspring to every stranger on the street. I’m through the first two books and working on the last and not only am I really not impressed with the quality of writing but He seems to be peddling a new kind of mystic theology that blends God and man and relies on a lot of light and love rather than truth and redemption. Journeys to Impossible Places inspires and encourages all of us to battle fear and negativity and embrace life, risk, opportunities and the glory of our world.

Also, it helps people realise that someone you occasionally see gadding around on the telly, they might look like everything’s okay on the surface, but underneath it can be a challenge for all of us.Things go wrong and life is tricky, and the more people who know and share it, the better,’ adds Simon who admits he’s found the repetition and mundanity of life this past year-and-a-half challenging. We’re poisoning ourselves out of existence, and our consumer capitalist democracies seem incapable of stopping it. At its core I find the book is quite life-affirming, peppered with huge moments in his own personal life, and finishing with a beautiful written letter promise to his young son that even made me choke up. Simon has received a One World Broadcasting Trust Award for 'an outstanding contribution to greater world understanding', the prestigious Ness Award from the Royal Geographical Society, and the John Tompkins Natural History Award from the International Moving Image Society 'for extraordinary achievements' in the field of natural wildlife and history filmmaking.
