Most scholars believe the origins of modern dominoes came from a popular 12th-century gambling game in China.Shuffle the dominoes and give 7 dominoes to each player in a two-handed game and five dominoes to each player in a three- or four-handed game. Before a game or hand begins, the dominoes must be shuffled. You can turn them all face-down on the table, then move them around in a random motion, being careful not to flip over any of the pieces. The collection of shuffled tiles is called the boneyard. A spinner is a double which can be played on all four sides. Depending on the rules of the game being played, the double played as the lead is the only spinner of the game; or, every double played throughout the game is a spinner. If the double played is not a spinner, it may be played on only two sides. Usually, the winning score is 150, but you should feel free to adjust it depending on your preference. The Common Variations:Moderately and higher-priced dominoes are usually made from more substantial plastics or resins which have the look and feel of ivory. Double Sixes sets containing 28 tiles and Double Nines with 55 tiles are the most famous varieties, but sets with many more tiles exist.
