We love everything about it. Clean up is a bit of a hassle, but that's why I also make large batches because I don't have time in the morning for cleanup. Cuisinart 4-Slice Belgian Waffle Maker: While this popular maker certainly didn’t deliver a poor performance (in fact, its fluffy waffles were tastier than the ones I made in some other makers), the color and crispiness of the waffles were inconsistent, so I could not in good faith recommend it. Not sure how you know which pan is ready on those.Updating this review - about 2-3 years after I got this device, one of the elements quit working (one of the ones on the outside "flaps"). I can still use the waffle maker as long as I flip the waffle to the other side. When I go to heat up the waffle maker, it will start heating, then start beeping wildly. Turning it off and on again fixes whatever that issue is, and it continues to heat (except for the defective element) normally. I still continue to wipe it down with paper towels - never did find a better way to clean it. I just make sure it heats up for the full amount of time before using it. Continuing to rate it as a 3 star item. Pancake and waffle batter are similar but not the same. The main difference comes down to the amount of fat—waffles require more fat than pancakes. Waffles may also contain a higher amount of sugar. For best results, use waffle batter to make waffles. If you have homemade pancake batter on hand, you may be able to use it with some adjustments to the amount of oil, eggs, and sugar. The most important feature of this Hamilton Beach Waffle Maker is removable grill plates. It is a game-changer when it comes to cleaning. They are dishwasher-safe and pop in and out with a simple press of a button. And of the cleaning superpowers of this model, there is an extra-large drip tray to catch errant batter.

Original Review Written in 2020: I've always wanted a waffle maker -- even better -- Belgian Waffle maker. But I was worried it would not be used after a while, and clean up in the past for all these sorts of things was horrible. Not with this one. Every week I'm making a batch because my son absolutely loves them. I usually make a bunch and freeze them for the week because of schedules and work. I've made some from scratch; but I have to admit that most of the time it's easiest to use a mix (Krusteaz Belgian Waffle Mix, is my preferred).
