About this deal

What’s less certain with Sennheiser earbuds is the sound character we’re going to be met with. The audio brand has nailed class-leading insight and tonal neutrality in countless models, but has also shown an inclination towards richer, fuller and not so universally appealing sonic signatures. Unfortunately with the IE 300, it’s more a case of the latter. All the following impressions are with the tips fully covering the nozzle. I’ll write up the alternative position later in the review.

When you slide open the inner box, you will immediately see the 2 earpieces on top, embedded in foam. Below you have the cable placed in the middle and below that you fill find the IE 200 safety guide and a little carrying pouch which contains the tips (3 pairs of Viscoelastic foam and silicone tips (S/M/L)). Sennheiser gave me the IE200 in exchange for my honest review. At no point did Sennheiser influence my decision. My thoughts are my own.

Everyone who is into headphones surely has heard of the German Sennheiser. Sennheiserhas been active for over 75 years and they are one of the most respected companies in audio. Recently its headphone division was acquired by the Swiss Sonova group, and that’s starting to show. Noise isolation is above average with the silicone tips and can be further enhanced by using the supplied foam tips. Internals Aside from that the driver (or transducer as Sennheiser refers to it), is a dynamic 7mm extra-wideband True Response effort that at the very least is similar, if not the same, as the one used in Sennheiser’s Momentum 3 True Wireless and is also used in the IE 300, IE 600, and IE 900. The aim of the True Response transducer is to reproduce sound as it’s meant to be heard. Sound Quality

The earphones themselves house Sennheiser’s 7mm “extra-wideband TrueResponse” transducers, which the company says exhibit almost no harmonic distortion, have a stated frequency response of 6Hz to 20KHz and impedance of 18 Ohms. Sennheiser IE 200 review: What do we like about them? Why not make balanced, high-fidelity sound available to everyone, no matter where they are? The IE 200 is Sennheiser’s answer. Whether you’re a lifelong audiophile — or you just want better sound on the road — these exceptionally neutral and precise earphones reveal an entire world of new detail.

Once you’ve got the IE 200 in your ears, you should be very pleased with how they sound; I certainly was. As these are headphones designed with budding audiophiles in mind, the focus is on a neutral and accurate presentation and that’s precisely what you get. There’s no hint of the low-end boost common on today’s mainstream headphones and that’s part of their charm. Conversely, bassheads will find them rather tame in that department. Disclaimer: The Sennheiser IE 2 00 IEM was sent to us by Sennheiser ’s PR agency , in exchange for our honest review. Sennheiser is not related to Headfonia in any way. response that comes exceptionally close to the ideal. It’s quite an achievement for in-ears. Now you can

At the heart of the IE 200 lies a mini-transducer so exceptional, it also drives Sennheiser's most renowned The newest member of the IE family shares considerable DNA with its renowned siblings but seeks to bring pure listening pleasure to a broader audience. With exceptional detail, clarity, and impact, users can now expect quality and features that are usually reserved for top-of-the-line devices. Described by Jermo Koehnke, Sennheiser's audiophile product manager, as an "open invitation for everyone to enjoy high-end sound", the IE 200 features the company's 7mm extra-wide band transducer – just like the pricier IE 300, though it isn't clear at this stage whether there are any discrepancies between the drivers in the two models. Sennheiser's extra-wide band driver is used in the IE models all the way up to the excellent IE 900, so the IE 200 should hopefully share some of that successful pedigree. There was once a time when in-ear headphones like the Sennheiser IE 200 were the most convenient way to listen to music on the go. That all changed with the arrival of Bluetooth options, specifically true wireless earbuds, but wired headphones aren’t dead just yet. One very subtle design aspect that you might miss when first using the IE 200 is a small vent towards the top of the nozzle. This is part of the tuning system that works in tandem with the ear tip positioning. There is a more obvious additional vent on the front plate to allow the dynamic driver to breathe. At the heart of the IE 200 lies a mini-transducer so exceptional, it also drives our most renowned in-ears

The soundstage does not feel noticeably wide or deep, but it’s not cramped or narrow by any means. What the IE 200 do really well is the depiction of stage height, which is surprising given the small driver and shell. That being said my re-tuned sub boosted Ej'S didn’t and the IE200 were very close in texture and actually the IE200 had a tad more quality and texture.

How well does the Sennheiser IE 200 block out noise?

After some more burn in the next day I swapped out the AKM j2 with the iBasso as the source with the CS chip strait to the A90D and two things became immediately clear. Now on the critical wish list. The IE200 is not the most resolving IEM and that also I think gives the Senny some of its special sauce. And the only thing I would change is giving it a bit more resolving power by boosting the ultra highs and giving the IE200 more treble extension.
