About this deal

Drop has claimed the HD8XX to be (or at least, aims to be) the “logical conclusion of the HD800 series”, but this seems more like a spit in the face to its legacy. On an objective level, the headphone that has superior audio fidelity and quality, for the most part on the low end, is the HD58x Jubilee by a narrow margin. It feels purer. The treble also feels cleaner and there is no “veil” that is present in the HD650/HD6xx. Subjective

Many people have owned the HD 650 for a decade-plus, and given that they have replaceable cables and are very well made, they should last for a very long time if treated right. Should you buy it? Upon first use on my head, the clamping pressure is too much for me to handle. It was the same with the HD650, my HD600, my HD580 and even my older favorite the HD485. Time is your friend, let it breathe and stretch on some books or a headphone stand that is wide. DROP (formerly Massdrop) is in the end nothing more than an online shop. But with the subtle difference that they also put their resources into product development with well-known big players. In most cases, the aim is to revise or reissue an existing product, make it more cost efficient and thus make it accessible to a wider audience. Examples are the AKG 7XX, HIFIMAN HE4XX, or the SENNHEISER HD6XX, which is based on the HD650 in terms of sound and appearance. This is still listed at SENNHEISER for 459 €, but is available at Thomann for just under 340 €. Well, the HD6XX is available via DROP for about 185 € and that without big differences in processing and sound (if you can believe the manufacturer, since I can't make a direct comparison at the moment). DROP also produces on demand and therefore in different batches, hopefully with the same quality control. So the product is not available on the shelf, but only exclusively through DROP and therefore not permanently. Clamp . It’s hurting my head after 20mins. This is a music gear not jail torturing device . German please fix it .More importantly: in addition to critical listening for fun and relaxation, I use these every day for work as a composer/sound designer. I need a fairly neutral, accurate sound with very high attention to detail and precise imaging. Disclaimer: The Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee was sent to us a sample in exchange for our honest opinion and does not have to be returned. We thank Massdrop for this opportunity. I bought these used. Then washed the pads. I did listen to them a but before washing the pads, and after drying the pads it sounded the same to me. Used pads may mean that I had much less treble than new pads would. Unfortunately, some TV brands don't put as much into gaming optimizations as others, but there are many great gaming TVs out there, so we put together this guide that breaks down some of our favorite gaming TVs giving a couple of choices for budget, midrange, and premium TVs. All the parts are of good quality, but if you use the headphone for a long time, you might need to change or replace many parts. As the drivers might start creating distortion and rumbling sound, or the headset might become loose. But the good thing is you can replace those parts without any hassle. Sound Quality

In these formative days of headphone audiophilea I recall being at a meet in College Park, MD where there were a number of HD600s and HD650s. We were auditioning cables by Cardas, Stefan AudioArt and other DIY concoctions including pure silver cables. It was amazing what a difference the cable could make to the signature. Tl;dr: I dont know if there are compromises in the manufacture of the Sennheiser HD6XX because its crowdsourced and potentially built to a different price point to the HD650 its based on.

Total Pageviews

I guess i find myself unfairly putting the HD6XX down because it doesnt appear to me like a 'proper' factory Sennheiser headphone despite the general consensus on this forum being that theyre essentially interchangeable. Any insight from members who own one or both of the models would be appreciated. I dont own either (instead owning the Grado SR325i amped with a Fiio A5) but i have always wanted a HD650 and want to know whether i should consider the HD6XX as a solid contender but will get the HD650 if it offers more. With Sony being one of the best TV brands, you pretty much already know that the Sony 65-inch Bravia XR A80L OLED TV is going to be an unmissable TV. It offers exceptional OLED picture quality with a ton of key features. For instance, there's XR OLED Contrast Pro which analyzes and enhances the picture so you get immersive depth and realism, along with ultra-detailed shadows and crisp highlights. So in reference to overall tonality (IMO, YMMV, audio is subjective and all that), here is my hierarchy for Sennheiser’s models: Introduction The Fragrant Zither (still can’t get used to this over-the-top name hidden behind its simple acronym) burst out of Comparisons. I’ve compared the HD6XX to headphones I think are fit for a comparison based on style of tuning and price segment competition, regardless of driver type or style of headphone.

The best TVs of 2023 are all models that deliver exceptional picture quality, solid motion clarity, and intuitive streaming platforms. But beyond watching movies and shows, these TVs should also deliver a phenomenal gameplay experience, whether you’re a Playstation 5 household or a Nintendo Switch devotee. The Sennheiser HD6XX can be the perfect headphone for you if you are an audiophile and at the same time looking for a headphone of a modest price. It is a high-end headphone with a fix at less kind of deal and has an impressive design.

So, if you are okay with these facts, then you should go for this headphone as the sound quality itself is a lot for the headphone. Final Words Mids – Midrange is what HD6XX does really well, in fact exceptionally well considering its asking price. Lower midrange is very clean, neutral and linear while the upper-midrange has a very natural reference-ish forward presentation with good ear gain and peak presence at 3kHz. It has very accurate tonality and timbre of instruments which makes HD6XX sound very natural and realistic. It is fairly resolving and well-layered, especially for its price. Like for tonality, here is my personal hierarchy for the technical performance of Sennheiser’s headphones: But, there was always one little… thing that seems to be overlooked in the conversation of evergreen headphones, more likely than not due to its extremely low price point. The venerable KSC75, its predecessor being the far less popular KSC35 which was introduced by Koss in 1995. The KSC75 debuted in 2005 as the KSC35’s cheaper alternative and has since remained as a cornerstone of every audiophile’s “newbie recommendation list”.

With the HD580x, you get a sense of height that is noticeably more prominent than the width factor, which hurts separation of instruments and makes it more of a vocalist’s ideal headphone and not one suited for wide sounding recordings. The 6xx is relaxed and inoffensive. At no point using these did I find my music sharp or sounding unsettlingly wrong. There is a pleasant amount of note weight on this set, especially the mid bass. I have no qualms about the mids, and actually, found the mid treble very adequate and correct timbrally. Either that or the “in-the-other-room effect” which is very self-explanatory. You know, that muffled bass-forward character whenever you hear music playing in a different room. This one is easier to correlate with its mangled tuning. It is quite comfortable when I put it over my head and ear. It covered all over my ears and the soft velvet(?) is pretty comfortable. It is a little bit tight but not as tight as M50x. I won't feel uncomfortable for several hours. Compared to ATH AD1000x and AKG K7xx, it is tighter than those two. Also I'd like to mention that I think the HD6XX is still a good headphone. Also that the difference was so strong most likely because I don't put in the effort to listen. Still tho, it's impressive that I don't have to try now. Also sorry about the long post. Among all the audio brands in the market, the Sennheiser is one of the most esteemed brands. They have been producing very nice and quality headphones for quite some time and their headphones have met the needs of audiophiles in a great way. Recently they have released two different models of headphones which are Sennheiser HD6XX and Sennheiser HD650.
