Not the quality of spirit that Two Birds once was. This offering is extremely sweet almost like a liqueur than a Gin. There is no watermelon on the nose, on the palate there’s a sweet flavour but not watermelon. The botanicals in the gin do not come through. However on the finish I did detect a slight hint of watermelon. Sorry Two Birds but this along with the Rhubarb are extremely poor offerings. Inspired by quintessentially English flavours, this delightful gin is infused with juicy strawberries and just a hint of vanilla. It really is summer in a glass.

Best serve: Over ice with your choice of tonic. Cut and twist orange or grapefruit peel before adding to the glass. This will release the most flavoursome and aromatic oils from the fruit. The nose is definitely bigger in terms of the juniper. Founded in 2013 in Leicestershire, Two Birds Spirits began purely with experimentation in the confines of the founder Mark Gamble’s home. Being both an engineer and a gin enthusiast (perhaps we could call him an en-GIN-eer?), it was only a matter of time until he build Gerard, the distillerys first copper still.Mark and Lyn launched their first gin in 2013 to widespread critical acclaim, with Two Birds London Dry Gin being crowned Craft Gin of the Year at the inaugural Craft Distiller’s Alliance Awards in 2013. This was followed shortly afterwards with a silver medal at the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition.
