About this deal

P2. Alfie’s was a family of two. Just him and his father. The boy’s mother had died giving birth to him. He had never known her. Sometimes he felt sad. As if he missed his mother, but then he would tell himself, how could he miss someone he had never met? Alfie and Gabz are determined to get to the bottom of the mystery – but no-one could have dreamed what they'll discover when they come face to face with the demon dentist herself, in this hilarious and thrilling story! Very very disappointed with this book, this was the first book I have read by David Walliams and maybe it was the wrong place to start. I love David Walliams's sense of humour, with all of the made up words. It really makes the book entertaining. I have put egg shells in 6 different drinks (orange juice, milk, Coke, Diet Coke, water and tea) to see what would happen to our teeth if they were left in the drinks for this long.

This week, we are going to be revising our knowledge of the suffixes -tion, -sion, -ssion and -cian. A suffix is a group of letters added to the end of a word to change its meaning. Task 2: divide a piece of A4 in two, put the heading on one half “Ich mag das” (I like that) and on the other half put the heading “Ich mag das nicht”. Write in German and illustrate foods/drinks you like and dislike in the right half. Challenge: look up any extra words using Google Translate. BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT WITH FUN! Join Alfie and Gabz on this fabulous adventure, as they investigate the strange events happening in their home town! This delightfully dark offering from comedian-turned-bestselling author David Walliams is certain to entertain young readers. Tony Ross's illustrations work brilliantly with Walliams's text; there's plenty of fast-paced action; and the jokes are gleefully ghoulish (and often gross). The characters are well-drawn, in particular hero Alife, who is also a carer for his disabled dad, and the terrible villain really is truly demonic. Alfie cared for his dad all on his own. Besides having to go to school and do his homework, he did all the shopping, cleaning, cooking all the meals, and all the washing up. As seems to be the case with David Walliams books, or at least the two I've read, they end on quite a sad note, which I find unusual for children's books. I don't know whether he's trying to teach kids a lesson about loss and grief, or prepare them for the inevitable, but it seems out of place, especially in Demon Dentist. I felt so sorry for Alfie, and I'm sure children reading it will, in some cases, be distraught! Dad gave up his job as a coal miner because he was very ill and the doctors said that just one more lungful of coal dust would kill him.

Don't miss this terrific tale from the West End producers of David Walliams' Gangsta Granny and Billionaire Boy, which were both nominated for an Olivier Award. It's the funniest and most exciting show yet!Can you write a persuasive letter using your research and planning notes from last week? I have used my planning notes to write a letter containing 3 different points in separate paragraphs. I have then expanded each point by including 3 pieces of evidence. The story is fantastical, sentimental, hilarious & written with a keen eye for detail. Walliams has indeed proven himself to be the true offspring of Roald Dahl’s style as is shown in his witty & humorous books for children. I sometimes feel that I prefer the Walliams books to the Dahl ones as they are so inclusive. I adored the characters, especially good old Raj; I cannot get enough of Raj in this novel, he is simply amazing! Another character who stole my heart in this book was Mr. Snood the dramatics instructor. I myself always tend to overdo things & therefore sometimes, I too must be appearing to be very much like Mr. Snood with his compulsive ‘impro’ commands. But the main book emphasis goes around a very poor boy and his very unfortunate life. I see how this part is set to teach kids sympathy and tenderness, not to bully the ones that don't or can't fit in, be compassionate and understanding. This week, we are going to be learning words where the ‘k’ sound is spelt ‘que’ and the ‘g’ sound is spelt ‘que’. These words are French in origin.

The first thing you noticed about Miss Root was her teeth. She had the most dazzling white smile. Whiter than white. Like a fluorescent light. Her teeth were absolutely flawless. So flawless they couldn’t possibly be real. The second thing you noticed about Miss Root was that she was impossibly tall. Her legs were so long and thin, it was like watching someone walk on stilts… Twelve-year-old Alfie hates going to the dentist. His teeth are yellow and brown and he loves sweets. He had an awful experience at the one-and-only dentist in town, Mr. Erstwhile, and has refused to go since then. Erstwhile croaks and a new dentist, Miss Root, shows up at Alfie's school to promote good dental hygiene. Or so it appears. But something is off... she's an odd tooth, saying that she will not give gory details on Erstwhile's death, but then gives the gory details: Erstwhile was found in his surgery room lying in a pool of blood with a dental probe through his heart. injection, expression, tension, hesitation, musician, expansion, discussion, magician, completion, explosion, admission, action, permission, selection, invasion, mathematician
