I keep getting adverts for PeaPod mats which look great but are very expensive (I’ll need at least two to keep up with the washing!) No, we don’t recommend using PeapodMats for babies under 12 months old to sleep on, in a cot, Moses basket, or at any time unattended. Lullaby Trust's guidelines don't recommend infants under 12 months old to sleep with any loose bedding. PeapodMats sit on top of the bedsheet and although they don't really move, they aren't recommended for little ones under 12 months old.
PeapodMats work best with regular cotton or terry bed sheets. If a bed sheet is very smooth, the PeapodMat will not grip as well and will move during the night. Run your hand across your bed sheet, if there is no texture, it feels very smooth or silky it may not be the best choice for the PeapodMat. PeapodMats grip very well to carpets and upholstered furniture. If the surface is smooth (laminate/wood flooring, tiles, leather sofa etc.), it will not grip but will remain waterproof.
