About this deal

Nostradamus was a 16-century French astrologer and physician whose prophecies earned him fame both during and after his lifetime. His growing fame made him an in-demand ally of Europe’s elite. Catherine de Medici, the wife of King Henri II of France, was one of Nostradamus’ greatest admirers. After reading his almanacs of 1555, where he hinted at unnamed threats to her family, she summoned him to Paris to explain and draw up horoscopes for her children. A few years later, she made him Counselor and Physician-in-Ordinary to King Henri’s court. In fact, many scholars believe he paraphrased ancient end-of-the-world prophecies (mainly from the Bible) and then through astrological readings of the past, projected these events into the future. Within a few years of his settling into Salon, Nostradamus began moving away from medicine and more toward the occult. It is said that he would spend hours in his study at night meditating in front of a bowl filled with water and herbs. The meditation would bring on a trance and visions. It’s believed the visions were the basis of his predictions for the future. In time, Nostradamus found himself somewhat of a local celebrity for his treatments and received financial support from many of the citizens of Provence. 1n 1531, he was invited to work with a leading scholar of the time, Jules-Cesar Scaliger in Agen, in southwestern France.

All things considered, Nostradamus’ writings offer a rather sinister outlook for 2023 and beyond. Of course, it can all be very reasonably dismissed as the groundless speculation, or poetic fancies, of a dreamer who died nearly half a millennium ago. Some have interpreted this to mean that escalation of the Ukraine conflict to a third world war is imminent. The Daily Star’s futurological correspondent offers sensible advice: “The seven-month timeline on the conflict may initially seem like a cause for celebration, but with the terrifying nuclear arsenals of countries including America and Russia, perhaps it’s best to err on the side of caution.” Parisians would be well advised to hole up in Rouen until things calm down. Reading is the author of four novels. The Music-Makers [House of Stratus 2001], The Nostradamus Prophecies [Atlantic 2009], The Mayan Codex [Corvus 2010], and The Third Antichrist [Corvus 2011]. Reading’s Antichrist Trilogy [TNP, TMC & TTA] has been published in 38 countries to date, with a combined sale of over 1,000,000 copies. I always wondered what the fuss was about Nostradamus, and now I know. Or, rather, I know what the author thinks the fuss is about. I'm not sold. I think this is pretty much like any other "scripture" that is a) really old, b) really vague, c) translated from its original language, d) supposedly prophetic in that someone good at arguing could twist and turn it to mean just about anything they want it to mean. At the age of 14, Nostradame entered the University of Avignon to study medicine. He was forced to leave after only one year, however, due to an outbreak of the bubonic plague. According to his own account, he traveled throughout the countryside during this time, researching herbal remedies and working as an apothecary.

Nostradamus is widely known as the greatest diviner and visionary who ever lived. In the whole of publishing history, only the Bible has sold more copies than his prophecies, which have been in print since his death in the 16th century. According to the clip, the source of the information was Nostradamus' 1555 book Les Prophéties, or The Prophecies, a collection of poetic quatrains allegedly predicting future events.

He gave to each of his prophetic verses--ten volumes of 100 each--an index number. As Mario Reading reveals in this ground-breaking new analysis, in these numbers lie the true key to the years of the prophecies’ fulfillment. It’s an eye-opening interpretation that no one should miss. Some claim that Nostradamus predicted the rise of Adolf Hitler but did he also predicted a great war would occur in 2023. Turning to the quatrains of Nostradamus, one line particularly stands out: ‘ seven months great war, people dead through evil’. Reading continued: "Prince Charles will be crowned in her stead, and become 'King of the Islands,' the implication here being that he is no longer king of the other regions in the world over which his mother reigned—Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc.—which will have, in the interim, become republics. Quatrain 8/15 as mentioned above reads "The masculine woman will exert herself to the north. She will annoy nearly all of Europe and the rest of the world. Two failures will put her in such an imbalance. That both life and death will strengthen eastern Europe." In 1556, while serving in this capacity, Nostradamus explained another prophecy from Centuries I, which was assumed to refer to King Henri. The prophecy told of a “young lion” who would overcome an older one on the field of battle. The young lion would pierce the eye of the older one and he would die a cruel death. Nostradamus warned the king he should avoid ceremonial jousting. Using a revolutionary new analysis of the secret dating of Nostradamus’s prophecies, The Complete Prophecies for The Future reveals startling new interpretations, offering answers to relevant questions: Is the demise of the British monarchy inevitable? Will there be a Global War—and, if so, what will this mean for the world’s climate?

However, most accounts state he was not expelled and received license to practice medicine in 1525. At this time, he Latinized his name—as was the custom of many medieval academics—from Nostradame to Nostradamus. The Plague Years Mario Reading was the recipient of an Arts Council Writing Award in 2004 for his as yet unpublished Second World War novel, After Barbarossa. The rise of Hitler, or ‘Hister’, was another of Nostradamus’s predictions. Photograph: Topical Press Agency/Getty Images By 1554, Nostradamus’ visions had become an integral part of his works in the almanacs, and he decided to channel all his energies into a massive opus he initially titled Centuries. He planned to write 10 volumes, which would contain 100 predictions forecasting the next 2,000 years. Historians have in the past noted that Nostradamus' reputation is largely manufactured by modern day audiences, who have tried to retrofit his vaguely phrased verses onto modern events and narratives. That last point makes Nostradamus sound thoroughly modern. “Those guys didn’t have social media,” says Jones, “but what they were producing then would serve now as the fuel pellets on which social media runs. In fact, increasingly, Nostradamus is spreading through social media.” It is not clear how Reading came to interpret the date being 2022, though it may be due to the passage being in "Verse XXII". However, there is no evidence that the verses numbers in the Prophecies match up with the respective years in the calendar.
