About this deal

Basically, we can already assume that this case, like most Lian Li cases, has a good airflow and already has nice RGB effects pre-installed. But is this also the case here? And what design options does the latest Lancool offer? Is there enough space for proper cable management? We will now take a look at this and much more together in this test. Technical data: Model It’s that time again, Lian Li releases a new „Airflow case“. The predecessor Lian Li Lancool 215 we had already tested at the beginning of last year, where it was happy about our „Silver Award“. The Lancool 216 case is quite similar in construction to its predecessor. The installed fans have become smaller, we have … (Weiterlesen...) We see a lot of PC chassis here at KitGuru but we don’t often come across anything genuinely unique. Most of the time, new cases offer improved looks, but not necessarily any improvement on the usual features we have seen for decades which means that finding cases with useful new features is a rarity. The Lian Li Lancool 216 is the exception to that rule, but what has Lian Li got up its sleeve in this new mid-range chassis? Let’s find out. Lian Li has unveiled the Lancool 216 chassis boasting an airflow-centred design capable of hosting up to two 360mm radiators, nine 120mm fans, and 392mm long graphics cards.

Furthermore, Lian Li has made it easier to cable manage your fans as well. There are the standard channels for the front fans, but there are also similar routing options at the top. These provide easy access to the rear chamber without having to enter the main chamber. Lian Li Lancool 216 mid-tower PC Case Specifications: Colour Talking of which, this chassis comes bundled with two 160mm fans in the front and one 140mm on the rear alongside a fan/RGB hub supporting up to four ARGB and PWM fans. To feed them with fresh air, there is mesh everywhere, even on the lower portion below the glass side panel. The Lian Li ARGB and USB controller is an easy-to-install upgrade module for the Lancool 216. It occupies one of the two positions at the front of the Lian Li Lancool 216 chassis. Once installed, you’ll have access to two additional USB 3.0 Type A ports for your front I/O. Alongside this, the four buttons control the lighting of the two 160mm Lian Li RGB fans. Each button controls a different aspect of the fan’s display, from lighting effects to colour. Furthermore, you can easily sync your fans together with your motherboard, by pressing either of the lighting effect buttons for three seconds. Lian Li ARGB and USB Controller Specifications: Compatible CaseI've the 215 and have absolutely loved it. Easy access, great air flow for the price. I got mine for €65 euros. Other than this minor inconvenience, the Lian Li Lancool 216 is an excellent mid-range chassis. Installing a system inside the case is easy, the adjustable motherboard mounting position makes motherboard components at the top of the case accessible when in water cooling mode with a top-mounted radiator and for those who want to air cool the system the motherboard can be lifted to create more space for bigger bottom fans and large CPU air coolers while still being able to mount a big graphics card vertically. Make sure that your motherboard BIOS is the latest version. If not, recommend to update to the latest version. To simulate thermal demand we run the Cinebench R23 multi-thread benchmark and 3DMark Time Spy Extreme stress test simultaneously in a loop for 60 minutes to fully load the system. This gives the CPU and GPU enough time to reach constant steady-state temperature. With this data, we can compare how the system handles the thermal demand and measure peak noise levels. All this is excellent news for users of high-end graphics cards. However, the implementation of this feature is flawed as it is only compatible with motherboard and graphics card combinations that place the graphics card video outputs in the top PCIe slot. With the majority of motherboard and graphics card combinations, you will find that the video outputs populate the second and third PCIe slots which means that you can't install the external fan and access video outputs.

Lian Li’s 216 chassis is very versatile, supporting motherboards that are up to EATX in size and up to 280mm wide. The case also supports ATX power supplies that are up to 220mm in length, which means that this case can support large PSUs with insane maximum wattages. The 216 is a chassis from Lian Li that is designed to act as a blank canvas, offering PC builders the option to exploit this case’s unique features to create truly custom PCs. We will look deeper at this case’s custom features later in this review.

Unobstructed Airflow LANCOOL 215 features two pre-installed 200MM ARGB fans and a 120MM fan, combining with mesh panels, honeycomb vents enable efficient ventilation. Equiped with two 200mm ARGB fan and one 120 fan at the rear. The mesh panel in the front creates a great airflow without bring the dust in. Include top and bottom honeycomb filtered vents, wide fan/radiator… KitGuru says: The Lian Li Lancool 216 is an impressive chassis for its price point. There is some tough competition in that sector of the market but Lancool 216 is up there with the best of them, what do you guys think? I added 2 x 140mm fans in the slots below the GPU which is mounted traditionally, keep my 3090 well fed with fresh air.
