About this deal

How can I, a weak, insignificant, humble, poor and destitute creature of Thine be able to bear them? O Thou who art the most holy! O Thou who existed before the foremost! O Thou who shall exist after the last! Such sort (of harshness) is not expected from Thee as it is remote from Thy grace, o' generous one! O' Lord! Thou art aware of my weakness to bear even a minor affliction of this world and its consequence and adversity affecting the denizen of this earth, although such afflictions are momentary, short-lived and transient O Allah! Except Thee I do not find any one able to pardon my sins nor to conceal my loathsome acts Nor have I any one except Thee to change my evil deeds into virtues There is no god but Thou glory and praise be to Thee I have made my own soul to suffer I had the audacity (to sin) by my ignorance Relying upon my past remembrance of Thee and Thy grace towards me

O' Allah! Curse those that oppress them, and hasten their relief and destroy their enemies among the Jinn and the men from the beginning to the end of the time, (Amen), O' the Lord of the worlds.O' Allah! Grant us the opportunity to visit them in this world and grant us their intercession in the world Hereafter, resurrect us within their group, and under their banner, O' Allah don't distinguish between us and them even in a twinkling of eye in this world and in the world Hereafter; with Your Mercy, O' the Most Mercy of the merciful.[1] O Allah! My trials and sufferings have increased and my evilness has worsened, my good deeds have diminished and my yokes (of misdeeds) have become firm And farfetched hopes prevent me from profiting (from good deeds) and the world has deceived me with its allurements and my own self has been affected by treachery and procrastination." 14 Allamah al-Majlisi has quoted some considerable books to have mentioned that Muhammad ibn Babawayh reported this supplication of Seeking Intercession (Du`a' al-Tawassul) from the Holy Imams (peace be upon them). Commenting, he added, “Whenever I said this supplication for any matter, I could find the traces of response immediately.” .Similarly, we should make sure that our prayers reach God since there are some sins that act as obstacles in their progress towards Him (swt). As we do not know what kind of sins these are, we should be cautious about every individual sin because that very sin which we commit may be exactly the one which hinders our supplication. Ibn e Hajib said: You must bring a baby wolf and feed the sheep with sufficient fodder from dawn to dusk every day. At night, bring the baby wolf in front of the sheep so that he loses all the fatness gained throughout the day on sighting the baby wolf. Perform this act regularly, you will not find any change in the sheep’s weight till it remains with you. Interestingly, although in such a bad condition, we still ask God to complete His favour towards us! If a person solves 90% of someone else's problems, only solving the remaining 10% would make them a perfect benefactor. If someone invites us to their house and provides us with every kind of facility, food and so on and only forgets to bring us water, then we would not call them a perfect host. If we open a school for poor students and throughout the school year we offer them everything needed and only close the school for a week, claiming that they have received 95% of their education, then that would have a negative effect on them. Regarding this, an Arabic maxim says And his demise was fell on the 18th of Zil Hijjah, 672 Hijri, and his entire lifespan sums up to 75 years. In a very eloquent way, Imam 'Ali (a) explains that this request is not a secondary or marginal one and one cannot continue without it; rather, for him, it enjoys utmost importance since he (a) cannot tolerate God's punishment. Imam 'Ali (a) admits that Divine punishments are severe while he (a) is so weak and so too are his body and skin. Hence his declaration:

As registered in history, Ibn e Hajib died in the city of Alexandria[3], not Baghdad, with the specifications mentioned in this incident. May the blessing and peace of Allah be upon you, O' the trustee of Al-Hasan, the good ambassador, O' the leader of our time, who shall rise for truth, the awaiting Al-Mahdi, O' our chief and master, we concentrated, and seeking for intercession and means to Allah through you, and we have presented our demands in this world and in the world Hereafter before you, O' the prominent one before Allah, intercede for us before Allah. On the other hand, God has put His dissatisfaction (sakhat) among sins. Here again we do not know which sin is meant and thus we should not take any risk by doing any sin because it may be that very sin that brings about Divine anger. Regarding this, Imam 'Ali (a) has been quoted as saying,d) The last part of the above-mentioned phrase in which Imam 'Ali (a) asks God to have a share in every kind of goodness, favour and virtue granted by God, shows his truly great true ambition. This teaches us that we should always have great intentions and never limit them. Therefore, if someone is only able to help 10 people, it is nevertheless recommended that they intend that they wants to help all people. While on a practical level it is true that they cannot help more than 10 people, however having such a great intention will result in them receiving the reward of helping all people. Sources O Allah! My Lord! How many of my loathsome acts hast Thou screened (from public gaze) How many of my grievous afflictions (distresses) hast Thou reduced in severity And how many of my stumblings hast Thou protected, how many of my detestable acts has Thou averted, and how many of my undeserving praises hast Thou spread abroad! And by Thy grandeur which prevails upon all things And by Thy authority which is exercised over all things And by Thy own self that shall endure forever after all things have vanished And by Thy Names which manifest Thy power over all things And by Thy knowledge which pervades all things And by the light of Thy countenance which illuminates everything O Thou who art the light! O Allah! I beseech Thee by Thy mercy which encompasses all things And by Thy power by which Thou overcometh all things and submit to it all things and humble before it all things And by Thy might by which Thou hast conquered all things And by Thy majesty against which nothing can stand up

Dua Kumayl / The Supplication of Kumayl - Qul

Answering these questions, Imam 'Ali (a) clearly declares that such things are not even imaginable regarding God:Hellfire is a necessity of creation and its philosophy; otherwise, God would close it down and turn it into a kind of paradise. So, my Lord! I look earnestly towards Thee and towards Thee, my Lord! I have stretched forth my hands therefore, by Thy honour, respond to my supplication and let me attain my wishes and, by Thy bounty, frustrate not my hopes and protect me from the evils of my enemies, from among the jinns and mankind o' Thou! Who readily pleased, forgive one who owns nothing but supplication for Thou doest what Thou willest o' Thou! Therefore, my Lord! I implore Thee by Thy greatness not to let my sins and my misdeeds shut out access to my prayers from reaching Thy realm and not to disgrace me by exposing those (hidden ones) of which Thou hast knowledge nor to hasten my retribution for those vices and misdeeds committed by me in secret which were due to evil mindedness, ignorance, excessive lustfulness and my negligence O' Allah! Whosoever intendeth evil against me, let ill befall on him and frustrate him who plots against me and assign for me a place in Thy presence with the best of Thy bondsmen and nearer abode to Thee, for verily that position cannot be attained except through Thy grace and treat me benevolently, and through Thy greatness extend

In addition to maghfirat, Imam 'Ali (a) also makes other requests including the ability to remember God. Regarding this, he (a) says, O' Thou who knoweth my destitution and starvation, o' my Lord! O' Lord, o' Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy glory and Thy honour, by Thy supremely high attributes and by Thy names to cause me to utilise my time, day and night, in Thy remembrance, by engaging myself in serving Thee (Thy cause) and to let my deeds be such as to be acceptable to Thee, so much so that all my actions and offerings (prayers) may be transformed into one continuous and sustained effort and my life may take the form of constant and perpetual service to TheeThen using geomancy, Khwaja located the area of that child and found out his house. He saw a lady in the house who had two infants, he requested the lady to give him those two infants and then began to nurture both of them. He understood with his cleverness that who among the two will become the king in the future, and grew up to become Halaku Khan. Then he put enormous effort for his upbringing, until the day when Halaku attained maturity. But now I have turned Thee, my Lord, after being guilty of omissions and transgressions against my soul, apologetically, repentantly, broken heartedly, entreating earnestly for forgiveness, yieldingly confessing (to my guilt) as I can find no escape from that which was done by me and having no refuge to which I could turn except seeking Thy acceptance of my excuse and admitting me into the realm of Thy capacious mercy
