The Chocolate Bhutlah, like most super-hots, is sought out mainly for extreme hot sauces. Though, you can use both the fresh and dried pods to add heat to soups and stews (only a sliver – it goes a LONG way), as well as salsas. Why is the Chocolate Bhutlah hotter? People say it is because of how the capsaicin is stored and spread in this hot pepper. Wherever you fall on the scale, it is interesting to follow the hottest peppers in the world as more and more varieties come to light. You’ve probably heard of some of the more famous spicy peppers on this list. Others are newer and have yet to be officially placed on the Scoville scale leaderboard. This is by no means the hottest pepper in the world. However, it is the hottest of the habanero-type varieties. This is the baseline, a point of reference to compare to the much hotter peppers that exist. The mature pod of this hot pepper has a chocolate brown, earthy color. They initially start as green and turn brown as they grow.
Please note that while this is a list of officially tested peppers, you will still find a large range of heat from pepper to pepper, so you might personally experience a 7 Pot Primo as hotter than a Carolina Reaper. Still, all of these peppers are quite hot! Ed Currie, creator of both the Carolina reaper and Pepper X, has not allowed anyone access to seeds for the Pepper X.
