About this deal

Vitamin D is primarily produced in our skin when it is exposed to sunlight and, well, the UK just isn’t very sunny. That is especially the case during the autumn and winter months, whilst with many of us leading a more sedentary lifestyle and getting outside less and covering most of our skin when we do venture out, it may also be an issue year-round for many people. Lately, I have been noticing a sharp decline in the number of children out and about my neighborhood during the day. While that might seem the beginning of a horror story, it is simply a sign that summer vacation has come to an end and schools have once again stretched open their ravenous maws to devour the childhood of every available youth.

All of our Vimto squash drinks are suitable for Vegetarians, due to the recent addition of Vitamin D they are not suitable for Vegans. However, all of our other Vimto drinks variants, including fizzy and still ready to drink ranges, are suitable for vegetarians and Vegans. Within their range of sweets, Vimto have some innovative and exciting lines that shoppers are bound to love. Their range is so diverse that there are favourites for the whole family no matter their preference! Adding the beloved berry flavour to a different treat for every occasion, Vimto sweets are a great way to attract the interest of shoppers of all ages. Vimto specifies that some of their other products are unsuitable for vegan and vegetarian customers, including Vimto jelly babies, Vimto fizzy pencils and Vimto flying saucers.

Are Any Vimto Sweets & Snacks Vegan?

Notice also that Vimto Mini Fizzy Pencils are made with fruit juices (from concentrate). Fruits are healthy, right? So I'm going to believe the candy will be good for me. It's amazing how little one needs to delude oneself if one wants to believe enough. So I guess it is sort of a horror story, depending on how you feel/felt about attending elementary school. If you are vegan primarily for health reasons then you may certainly feel that way. We are not here to judge or say what is right or wrong but certainly any ethical vegans will avoid Vimto and other products fortified in this way. The manufacturers could use vegan vitamin D, firstly, and secondly, there are many other vegan drinks available, as well as ways for vegans to obtain their essential vitamin D. As such, whilst some vegans may feel OK with drinking Vimto, for us, it is clearly no longer possible to class it as a vegan product. What About Other Vimto Products? As is often the case, I would be wrong (and I should have known better; candy manufacturers will look ANYWHERE for inspiration), because today's review is all about Vimto Mini Fizzy Pencils! If all of the above is far too much reading for you then here is what you really need to know in its simplest, shortest form:

Thus, this offering from Turner's gets a wonderfully welcome 3. It might not top my list, but I could indeed see myself purchasing another bag if given the opportunity. lt;p>For allergens, including cereals containing gluten, see ingredients in BOLD
However, all of our other Vimto drinks variants, including fizzy and still ready to drink ranges, do not contain any animal products and as such, are suitable for vegetarians and Vegans." Whilst this point is not debatable, some vegans may not feel too concerned about a tiny quantity of wool-derived lanolin being used to produce an even smaller amount of vitamin D. Afterall, PHE recommends that we consider supplements of this essential nutrient and as we explain when looking at vaccines, we feel that putting human health first is acceptable under the “as far as is possible and practicable” part of the official definition of veganism. Vimto was vegan but the recipe changed in 2021 to include non-vegan vitamin D, made from a grease that comes from sheep’s woolIn the modern era, with a rapidly swelling vegan population, it is quite unusual for a big company to change their product to go from being vegan to being non-vegan. It certainly seems strange but unless they notice a considerable drop in sales, in reality, they are unlikely to change anything in the near future. These groups usually give out advice about what food products are vegan friendly and just try to make things easier for everybody in the community." In 1972 the factory moved again, as part of an expansion programme relocating to the south of Manchester and Wythenshawe. In the calorie-counting days of the 1980s diet Vimto was introduced and by 2008 the famous drink from North England was celebrating its 100th anniversary. Over the years many products have been added to the range and 2016 saw Vimto’s first frozen drink/slush, perfect for those hot, sunny days in Manchester! Ian's petition declared: "We the undersigned feel that this is a regressive and unnecessary decision when an increasing amount of people are becoming vegan and eating plant-based diets to oppose the abuse, exploitation, and killing of animals. Well, as we explain in more detail in our feature explaining why many popular breakfast cereals are not vegan friendly, much vitamin D is made using lanolin. There are vegan vitamin D supplements available but it is cheaper to produce this essential vitamin using lanolin which, for those unaware, is a grease obtained from the wool of sheep.

Many of their sweets, jellies and related confectionary contains animal derivatives and are not suitable for vegans or vegetarians Below the list of ingredients are instructions for proper storage. To the best of my knowledge, I followed them faithfully, but "cool" and "dry" are vague and relative terms, so I can't be certain. How cool is cool? How dry is dry? Are the guidelines intentionally ambiguous for legal reasons? I do not know the answers to any of these questions, but I do know that I did not store my Vimto Mini Fizzy Pencils outside in a pot of boiling water, so I'm fairly confident I've done my part. Manufactured under licence from Nichols plc, WA12 OHH, UK, owner of the registered trademark Vimto® A small range of our Vimto confectionery products do contain animal derivatives, and therefore may be unsuitable for vegetarians and vegan diets, these include: There has been a petition to encourage Vimto to revert to a vegan formula, be that using vitamin D2, which is vegan, or without the addition of vitamin D at all

Bringing the delicious Vimto flavour to everyone, our range of share bags gives you plenty of options that will please the whole family. With choices including Vimto Mini Jelly Beans 160g, Juicy Mix Ups 130g and Fizzy Mallows 100g, there are treats for every family! Their other drinks are though, meaning the ready to drink options and fizzy Vimto are fine for vegans to consume Ian, from Lochgilphead, Argyll, Scotland, said: "I think it's a good thing that Vimto has Vitamin D in it - it's something that we need, especially in Northern Europe. Upon doing so, I was greeted by an aroma both familiar and new; there was the usual "bag of sugary candy" smell, but there was something more, a scent that I imagine can only be produced by "Vimto flavouring." The first whiff of a fresh bag of any sort of sweets tends to be a wee bit overpowering, and this was no exception. But my nose did not find it disagreeable, just strong, so things were looking up. Many vegans voiced their frustration at the brand for the change, including some who said it 'made no sense at all' or was 'lunacy' as they claimed there are vegan-friendly versions of the vitamin.
