About this deal

With all of the talk about siphon tubes, we would be remiss if we didn’t also mention blowdown tubes and explain their function, which is wholly related to your safety as the driver of the vehicle. Racing sanctioning bodies typically require a hardline blowdown tube installed on every bottle in a nitrous-injected entry, and for good reason. The most important add-on of all; traction control for nitrous. A basic unit simply pulses the solenoids open and shut to deliver smaller amounts of nitrous as and when you want it. This means it can gradually deliver a larger and larger shot progressively rather than all at once. In turn, allowing the engine to slowly consume more nitrous when it can. It’s kinder to the drivetrain, helps acceleration times and is more efficient. It also allows a much bigger dose; increased air speed at higher speed and rpm means the nitrous is more diluted with air, and therefore capable of consuming more. Clever versions have extras such as recognizing what gear you’re in and increasing the dosage it injects throughout the gear. They also enable safety features, such as delaying injection time until after the clutch is disengaged. having done a bit of messing around and the static testing the 20oz was low so thought a top would be a good idea, bottle in freezer over night, hooked up to filler sat on scales -bit of a hiss..... then nothing! no weight gain nothing! all thats left in 11lb bottle is gas!

Please note we will strictly only fill Nitrous bottles for use in motor vehicles, and reserve the right to decline refilling any bottle which we deem to be unsafe. I've said this before but the thread has got lost in the mists of time so it seems it's time for a repeat. To allow the pressurized nitrous to reach the engine, the kit relies on solenoids to open that are triggered electronically. The WON kits use a solenoid that allows the nitrous to take the most simple and unrestrictive path through to ensure the high pressure from the bottle and lines is maintained. The solenoids are also designed so they can be pulsed. This means that when they are linked to a controller, they can carefully ration the amount of nitrous that passes through them. They also incorporate a metering jet which increases response and makes them more efficient. The different nitrous oxide kits Dry kits Nitrous works in more than one way, but primarily it all adds to the same effect. It gives your engine more oxygen to burn, which in turn allows more fuel to burn creating more power. To gain a better understanding of how nitrous works you need to know two things. Each vehicle with a nitrous bottle in the passenger compartment requires a blowdown tube mounted to the bottle, in the event of a failure of the pressure release device.Do not be tempted to experiment with inhaling the gas - it has both long term and short term negative effects upon our health.

So, weighing my bottle, i can now say that the full weight of the bottle was 8lbs exactly and using the empty figure above of 6.09lbs then according to my calculations I have 1.91lbs of liquid in the bottle!! so the 5lb bottle holds 4.5lbs of liquid so that must mean that the bottle is missing approximately 2.59lbs!! So its approx half full!! Cooler intake air is denser and therefore contains more oxygen, which will allow more fuel to be burned and in turn make more power. Just a 10 degree drop in temperature has the potential to increase an engines power by up to 1.5%. Nitrous oxide boils at -129°F and it begins to do that as soon as it’s injected into the intake manifold. To boil, the nitrous has to absorb heat from the intake charge and in so doing has the potential to reduce the intake air temperature by up to 80°, which means that if we were dealing with say a 400 hp engine, we could see a gain of over 30 hp from the cooling effect alone and as a bonus, this cooling effect also helps the engine stay below the detonation threshold. When you buy nitrous oxide (NOS) canisters pressurised inside the cream chargers there is more than one use for the gas…So if you feel like experimenting with NOS then read on. Experimenting With Nitrous Oxide(NOS) In 2015, the then chair of the ACMD, Prof Leslie Iversen, told the home secretary at the time, Theresa May, that possession of laughing gas should remain legal. The blowdown tube is mounted to the pressure release device, which houses a disc that ruptures at approximately 3,000 psi. It vents the nitrous outside the car.”All of the bottles that are considered a carbon fiber bottle actually have a super-thin aluminum bottle under that. The carbon weaving is carbon fibers but not the carbon fiber that we look at in an automotive application that has a weave; this is carbon fiber threaded material that is wrapped around the bottle to strengthen it. That way, you can use thin aluminum to reduce weight, then the carbon fiber material strengthens that, then there is an epoxy finish,” he says.

Alternatively give us a call and tell us exactly what you have and we'll get the weight by weighing the same combination here. Any other way is going to be inaccurate because there are a number of extra components that could be added to the bare bottle. The Super Hi Flo valve utilizes a handwheel that is integrated at a 45-degree angle to the nitrous flow, which assures maximum performance capability. It’s the first immediate effect of this heat exchange that offers a large gain through the dramatic reduction of intake temperatures as the surrounding air is cooled; something that is especially important when it comes to turbo applications. Also, as a gas displaces more than a liquid, injecting in this form results in more charge in the cylinders. As it displaces less air, it’s through this massively-increased oxygen content that it allows more fuel to be burnt. Nitrogen & oxygen When a bottle is heated to the proper temperature—between 85 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit—the nitrous oxide will reach between 900 and 1,000 pounds per square inch of pressure inside the bottle, which is the proper pressure to begin delivery to the engine.

Doctors have warned about an increase in spinal cord and nerve damage caused by the drug, including paralysis.

Competition Solenoid Systems

Let’s say a .030-inch jet makes 150 horsepower on one engine, and on another engine, it may make only 80 horsepower. The engine’s efficiency, intake, cylinder head design, exhaust, and camshaft profile all play into it. So saying that a given volume of nitrous will make X horsepower is a rule of thumb but is not super accurate,” he says. Just to clarify, a 5lb bottle won't actually hold 5lb's of nitrous (sounds crazy I know). It's in fact a 2 kg bottle which is just about 4.5 lbs of nitrous. However, it's pretty easy to squeeze in that extra 1/2 lb. The use of nitrous oxide as a performance enhancement has been used since World War II. Allied aircraft used it for emergency boosts in airspeed and altitude capabilities. By the end of World War II, jet propulsion had been invented and the United States' government was losing interest in piston-powered aircraft. For nearly thirty years, the application of nitrous oxide on vehicles would be privileged information.
