Little Squirrel hasn’t left his nest since last autumn. He needs to gather nuts for the long winter to come but he’s too worried to leave his cosy nest.

Eastern gray squirrels feed mainly on nuts, seeds, grasses, tree bark, berries, flowers, plant bulbs, and crops like corn. When Tafuri first attempted picture book illustration in the late 1970’s picture books were aimed at five-, six-, and seven-year-olds.
