Tella accidentally wastes her free question. So when she sees a wanted poster of her mother hanging in the shop, she has to give something to Aiko. The poster denotes her mother’s true name: Paradise. Aiko requires Tella’s last memory of her mother before she gives Tella information about her. Tella eventually relents. This was why love was so dangerous. Love turned the world into a garden, so beguiling it was easy to forget that rose petals were as ephemeral as feelings, eventually they would wilt and die, leaving nothing but the thorns. dante dante dante please find a personality. he’s so boring omg how can anyone root for him. he has no charisma. i did not care for him. and that whole “fake fiance” business was his own doing, so don’t be getting mad about it you donut.

When her mother was still alive, Tella found a set of tarot cards. Her mother told her they were dangerous. Tella saved one card, The Aracle. It has been predicting the future by the picture it displays ever since. Her pulse danced faster as she hid her friend’s letter and opened her smallest trunk—the one she’d not allowed the players to rifle through during Caraval. She had filled it with money pilfered from her father. But that was not the only treasure it concealed. The interior was lined with an unappealing burnt-orange and lime-green brocade that most people would never look at closely enough to notice the slit along the edge of it, which allowed her to hide the catalyst for this entire situation: The Aracle.Scarlett’s mouth tilted toward a smile. Tella could see her sister trying to battle it, but then it transformed into a melodious laugh. Happiness made Scarlett even prettier. I devoured this wonderful, torturous book. And now I don't know what to do with myself aside from sit here and try and form some semblance of a review. Oh but Tella is embroiled in her own love triangle, don't you worry. I know she is in love with Dante by the end of the story, and I know he loves her, but there is another guy that seems to be in love with Tella and noooooooo thank you. I actually LOVE this character and I wouldn't mind a Tella/This Character pairing IF Dante had never existed. Meaning, This Character as a love interest is so unnecessary. Why though. Why.

Her father has arranged Scarlett’s marriage and now Scarlett thinks that her dreams might be done for. Scarlett wants nothing more than to see Caraval. It is a performance that happens once a year very far away and the audience participates in it as well. Now it seems that she will have to put any ambitions of going there aside in preparation for an arranged marriage she never wanted in the first place. the anticipation for me.. when i found out who actually was legend, shook. but what i truly am in love with is stephanie garber's writing. sure, her worldbuilding was predictably confusing, but just the way she makes me feel like i'm in a whole new magical and enchanted world. i questioned everything while reading legendary, the familiar feeling of not quite knowing if caraval is a game or not! Theron, a young man who looks like one of the god-like star statues in the garden, answers the door. An eight-point star is branded on one side of his face. Theron says he needs a drop of Tella’s blood before he’ll answer any of her questions.What makes something real Tella? Does seeing something make it real? Or does hearing something make it real? What about feeling something, is that enough to make it real?” It was angsty and stupid because PLOT REQUIREMENTS required a stupid amount of angst. And I was less than impressed. the world of caraval is so neat, but the writing was driving. me. up. a. wall. i was this close 👌🏻 to dnf’ing because of the imagery and how messy the story became. Next to this undecided love interest there is the love between Scarlett and Tella. I know there are sisters and all, but Scarlett was so so annoying and her stupid secretiveness was even worse.
