About this deal

Like most of the other, newer flavours, at 226 this bar has a few more calories than the older range. The carbs are also a little higher at 20g, but this is matched by Grenade’s standard 20g of protein. White Chocolate With Sweetener (32%) (Sweetener; Maltitol; Cocoa Butter, Whole Milk Powder, Emulsifier; Soy Lecithin; Natural Flavouring), Protein Blend (Calcium Caseinate (Milk), Whey Protein Isolate (Milk)), Humectant; Glycerol; Hydrolysed Beef Gelatine, Isomalto-oligosaccharide, Roasted Peanuts (7%), Water, Palm Fat, Peanut Paste (2,6%) (Peanut Kernels, Peanut Oil) , Flavouring, Salt, Sweetener; Sucralose Whereas the ‘older’ bars all seem to hover around 15-16g, the newer flavours have been consistently up at 18-20g, almost matching the 20-22g protein in each bar.

Basically, the banana flavour is the artificial flavour that’s a just that little bit too strong to be real banana. Grenade have always done things a little differently, and their branding is no exception, which is perhaps why they are now the most well-known brand on the market. What is Different About Grenade Protein Bars? In this post I will review all the flavours I’ve tried so far, and I’ll update it as and when I try the new additions! The centre is soft, fudgey and slightly chewy, just like the previous two bars but this time with a nice chocolate flavour. The caramel layer adds a richness and a hint of salt which mixes well with the chocolate coating to create an overall flavour that reminds of, well, a fudge brownie! Even so, this is a great addition to the line and I still really enjoyed it. You could say it would have been improved by substituting the caramel layer for peanut butter, but what isn’t improved by adding a bit of peanut butter… Jaffa Quake 8/10 Bang on. The base is the same nougat-like centre as the rest of the bars but with a soft peanut flavour in this case. It’s certainly not a full-on peanut flavour, but it is enough to blend well with the chocolate and the peanut chunks add some extra flavour and crunch. I’m impressed once again, but as I said, fudge brownie is a pretty standard flavour. It’s not my favourite of the bars so far, but it’s absolutely worth a try, if not only for a break from your average protein bar. Dark Chocolate Mint – 8/10

I can’t decide between the white chocolate and milk chocolate Oreo bars, so I simply won’t. 10/10. Grenade Bars – Best to Worst

This bar features a peanut butter flavoured base topped with a gooey strawberry layer and spindled with peanut pieces, then coated in milk chocolate. In many ways this bar is similar to the Caramel Chaos – Obviously, the chocolate coating and the texture are exactly alike, but the flavour is overall pretty similar too if I’m honest. I think I’d have to eat them one after the other to really distinguish between them. As usual, the chocolate is good quality and melts as soon as you take a bite. Plus the chocolate chips are a nice addition, making for a more interesting texture and intensifying the creamy cocoa flavour. The question is, which pin to pull? There are 12 flavours (at the time of writing) and we have 11 of them here for you today… With an already excellent flavour, Grenade could almost have gotten away without the Oreo pieces, but they do lend a nice crunch (and additional ‘authenticity’) to tie this bar together.

WHY CARB KILLA?

Created in partnership with Oreo, this bar combines real Oreo pieces with Grenade’s tried-and-tested protein bar base.
