About this deal

If you want to control the humidity in your home without distraction then the Arete range is the market leader for exceptional humidity extraction at a super quiet operating volume. If you’re looking for a dehumidifier that can clear moisture in a larger space or deal with significant damp levels within the home, then you need a dehumidifier with a high extraction rate. I had the MeacoDry Arete One running whilst I worked and watched TV and it didn’t bother me at all. The official stats say it runs at just 35dB, and it certainly felt very quiet in practice.

All Arete One dehumidifiers come with a medical grade H13 HEPA filter which is 75% larger than the filter on our popular Low Energy models. It can be used to clean the air during dehumidification and as a stand-alone air purifier throughout the spring and summer months. All that said, the Russell Hobbs RHDH2002 20L dehumidifier still impressed our review team during testing. So, if you’re looking for a powerful dehumidifier with a cheaper upfront cost, the Russell Hobbs RHDH2002 20L is well worth considering. If you have a lot of laundry you need to dry indoors over the winter months, then we think thePro Breeze 20L Premium Dehumidifier with Special Laundry Modeis the best dehumidifier for drying clothes fast.

A great, hassle-free dehumidifier that puts the squeeze on noise and power consumption

A dehumidifier isn't the most exciting of household appliances, but it's obvious that attention has still been paid to the MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier's design. The unit looks both sleek and modern, with simple monochromestyling that blends easily into a room without standing out too much. That extraction level may not sound like much, and this certainly isn't a dehumidifier that can cope with large damp problems or help to dry washing. But, in practice, our tests found it worked well when left running in the bedroom overnight in our tester's single-glazed Victorian terrace. It reduced the build up of condensation around windows in the morning, and the air in general also felt fresher whenever it was running. It also did really well to help eliminate steam and fumes in the kitchen whilst cooking.

How to choose There are two versions of this product, one that can remove 20 litres of water per day and a larger 250-litre per day model (at 30ºC and 80% relative humidity; the water removal depends on the environment you’re in). Both have a 4.8-litre water tank, which means that the worst-case scenario would involve emptying it several times per day; in my tests, the tank needed emptying every one or two days. There’s a status light that indicates when the tank needs emptying – the dehumidifier shuts down automatically when the tank is full. The downside of the Arete One’s hassle-free approach is that you don’t have as much direct control over fan speeds, timers or noise levels that you get with some other dehumidifiers. As far as I’m concerned this isn’t really a problem, as the Smart controls work so well, but if you’d like to tweak things up and down yourself, then you might consider something else. MeacoDry Arete One review: Should I buy it?Emptying the water tank is the most common action that dehumidifier owners need to do. So it was important to make sure that Arete’s large 4.8 litre tank was easy to access and empty. The only downsides for me are that there is no timer, and this dehumidifier doesn't have any Wi-Fi compatibility, which is a bit of a shame because I’d love to have been able to operate it remotely via an App. But, considering this dehumidifier does such a stellar job, these few points are very easy to overlook. So, if you’re after the smallest dehumidifier on the market, we think the Russell Hobbs RHDH1061G wins the accolade of best small dehumidifier, with good all round performance for its size housed in one of the smallest builds on the market – along as you don't expect too much from that 0.3L extraction rate. We have not included a free hose in our dehumidifiers for a few years now because more than 90% of users told us that they do not use them, so they just end up in landfill. Our aim is to reduce plastic waste, so we changed the way we do things.

The extensive feature set makes this the perfect dehumidifier for almost any home and can be deployed in any room as well as conservatories, garages, boats or caravans with exceptional performance. If you're wondering how to get rid of mould in a poorly ventilated room, or trying to combat excess moisture or humidity inside the home, then a dehumidifier can be a useful tool in your arsenal.

The water extraction rate will depend on the temperature and relative humidity. At 10ºC and 60% relative humidity, the dehumidifier can remove 3.4 litres per day; at 20ºC and 60%, it can manage 8.5 litres per day. If you press the Smart Humidity mode button repeatedly, you can cycle between the available humidity targets, ranging from 40% to 70%rh, with a continuous option if you just want to keep dehumidifying, no matter what. This dehumidifier also offers a night mode which keeps the fans on low in case you want to use it in a bedroom overnight, but, I found the MeacoDry Arete One very quiet whichever mode I had it running in.
