About this deal

It's little wonder the Samsung Galaxy S10 range has proved so popular since its release in spring 2019. Comprising three models, the Galaxy S10 range boasts a hole-punch display, powerful hardware, and some outstandingly versatile camera tech. You can also shoot at 5x zoom, which Huawei calls Hybrid Zoom. This uses far more intense processing than the 3x zoom and doesn't uncover more true detail. But it does make far-away text clearer and uses smart upscaling to make the photos look right rather than blurred like a simple digital zoom. With regards to audio, unlike the P20 Pro, the standard model only pushes sound out of this single loudspeaker, leaving the earpiece for phone calls only. Not only does this mean mono audio, but the placement means I found myself occasionally covering it with my palm when holding the phone one-handed, and when in a landscape orientation. However, the Samsung does a slightly better job of appearing to be 'all screen' front-on, because the Huawei's screen does not curve around at the sides. Only the glass does, and just the last millimeter or so at that. P20: Dual: 20 MP Monochrome ( f/1.6, 1/2.3", 1.55 µm, OIS) + 12MP RGB (f/1.8, 27mm), Leica optics, 2x optical zoom, phase detection and laser AF, dual-LED dual-tone flash

Start by going to Settings > Battery > More (gear icon at top right) and make sure that Keep Wi-Fi on is set to Always and Keep mobile data on is toggled on. Sure enough, the test took 13% off the Huawei P20 Pro's battery that time. However, battery life is great whatever way you try to skew things.Like other recent higher-end Huawei phones, the P20 Pro makes quite an impact with its highly reflective glass finish. And it has a much larger battery than most, 4,000mAh, without any obvious added bulk to the shell. Quite a few people have found that the fingerprint sensor on their P20 Pro has stopped working. We’ve seen threads about the issue on the XDA Developer forum and Reddit, among other places. For most people, it seems to be unresponsive, but others have also noted the sensor heating up and the fingerprint sensor options in the Settings menu becoming inaccessible. The numbers sound unusual, but this is really just a Full HD screen stretched out to an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. That's right, it's even 'wider' (or longer) than most other 18:9 screen phones. Try wiping the cache partition to begin with. Turn your Huawei P20 Pro off by holding down the Power key and then tapping Power off. Once it has shut down, hold down the Power and Volume up keys at the same time until you see the Huawei logo. Then release the Power key, but keep holding the Volume up key until you see EMUI on screen. You can use Volume down to highlight Wipe cache partition and the Power key to select it. When it’s done, use Volume up to highlight Reboot system now and the Power key to select it.

The FHD+ display on the Huawei P20 really does it proud. At 5.8 inches, it's a good compromise between a smaller phone and a phablet, while not feeling large in the hand because of the slim bezels and the notch. Han, Lu (2019-07-25). "Here are all the EMUI 9.1 features for Huawei P20 and P20 Pro". Huawei Central . Retrieved 2019-08-15. The Huawei P20 Pro price has jumped since its launch in April 2018, with the handset now available for around a third the price it initially launched for, if you buy it SIM-free. The one part we don't always like is the workings of the AI scene selection. The Huawei P20 Pro constantly analyses the camera feed, to see what you're taking a photo of. It'll recognize food images and nature shots with great speed and accuracy. This resolution isn't all that obvious in the shots it takes, though. The Pixel 2 still takes clearer selfies with cleaner looking fine detail.

A real pro for photography

Although Huawei has confirmed the Huawei P20 Pro will receive the Android 10 update, along with most other pre-existing Huawei phones, there's no word on the future of Huawei phones in 2020 and beyond. That means we don't know if the Huawei P20 Pro could get future Android builds when they come along in the future. Huawei P20 Pro price and availability

If your Huawei P20 Pro got wet, then it might be limiting charging speed as a safety feature. Give it some time to dry out or place it in a bowl of uncooked rice to draw any moisture out, then test again. There’s a set of grilles along the bottom of the P20 Pro, situated either side of the USB-C slot that conceals one of two speakers and the microphone. Similarly to HTC’s Hi-Fi BoomSound arrangement, this downward-facing speaker handles most of the heavy lifting when you’re enjoying media. Collectively the Pro’s audio capabilities are respectable; with clean, clear, powerful sound (for a smartphone) that only breaks down at the upper limits of its range. Noticeably absent is a 3.5mm headphone port – something to bear in mind if you’re not a fan of dongles (Huawei throws one in-box) or Bluetooth headphones. Try going to Settings > Display and changing Screen resolution from FHD+ to HD+ to see if that makes any difference. Look in Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile data or Data usage and make sure that Data saver is off.Apple’s current iPhones both streets ahead on this front, allowing owners to shoot 4K at a smooth 60fps fully stabilised. Huawei P20 Pro review: Verdict There are a couple of threadson the XDA Developers forum that mention unprompted reboots. For one person, it was happening repeatedly in the Gallery app, but for others, it seems to be a bit more random when it occurs. The P20 Pro will suddenly shut down and restart itself with no apparent cause. This is an issue we’ve seen from time to time on a lot of different phones. Pixel density of 408ppi isn't even close to the 529ppi of the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. The only time you're likely to notice though is when using a phone-based VR headset – and if that fad isn't dead, it is at least dormant.

Look in Settings > Apps & notifications > Apps > Settings > Special access > Ignore battery optimization and select any apps you’re having trouble with. While scanning the XDA Developers forum , we spotted several complaints about touchscreen issues and lagging displays— most notably when users are trying to scroll or complete precise actions on their screen.Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro are Android smartphones manufactured by Huawei. Unveiled 27 March 2018, [1] they succeed the Huawei P10 in the company's P series line. There's one missing piece of the jigsaw though: the Huawei P20 Pro doesn't support wireless charging. There are software improvements to the camera as well, including “AI” image stabilisation, which allows you to shoot four-second long exposure images with little handshake or blur. It’s a technique that works surprisingly well, with the phone capturing detail-rich images in low-light, without too much visual noise. The P20 line is distinguished primarily by its cameras, which Huawei promoted as featuring artificial intelligence technology to perform automated enhancements to images, and the P20 Pro featuring both a wide-angle 40-megapixel camera, and an 8-megapixel camera with optical zoom.
