About this deal

This hairy beast is not as cute as it might appear! In actual fact, however, in Doctor Who the Yeti were robots created by The Great Intelligence in the Second Doctor era (The Great Intelligence would go on to return and face the Eleventh Doctor and Clara in Series Seven). Appearing in 1930s Tibet and then in the Underground in Sixties London, the Yeti are a fearsome foe whose war cry sounds not unlike a very slow toilet flush. A Yeti also made a brief cameo in 20th Anniversary Special, The Five Doctors, but it’s unclear if this was real or robot… Read more here. Must Watch Stories: Little Miss Calamity · Little Miss Daredevil · Mr. Scatterbrain · Mr. Stubborn · Mr. Metal · Little Miss Strong · Ghost · Caveman · Mummy · Cave-Nosey · Cave-Small · Mr. Rude's family · Mr. Fussy's unnamed relative · Loretto the Venus Flytrap

The text is rather simple and straightforward. Hargreaves aptly captured the essence of the Fifth Doctor's stoicism fairly well. The illustrations are a perfect combination between the Doctor Who and the Mr Men and Little Miss universes. The Fifth Doctor depicted really looks like Peter Davison from the Mr Men and Little Miss universe. When Doctor Who returned in 2005, showrunner Russell T Davies introduced a whole new generation to the Autons! The opening episode Rose scared young and old alike with shop dummies coming to life due the Nestene Consciousness desire to take over the Earth. We first met the Autons in the Third Doctor era and, coincidentally, in two season openers, both featuring Jon Pertwee (in his very first story, Spearhead From Space) and one featuring The Master in his debut, Terror of the Autons. Must Watch Stories: The Cybermen, who just recently appeared on television with the Twelfth Doctor and Missy in the epic Series 10 finale, World Enough And Time / The Doctor Falls, first appeared over fifty years ago! Hailing from Mondas, the Cybermen tried to invade Earth but, thankfully, the First Doctor was on hand to help out in the 1966 classic, The Tenth Planet. Over the years, the Cybermen battled the Time Lord time and again – and almost every time with a shiny new upgrade. Read more here. Must Watch Stories: Hargreaves not only captures their characters nicely (even makes Adric a bit annoying - or was that a bit of projection on my part? :) ), but fits them all into one short Mr Man length story. From August, Whovians can enjoy Dr. Second, Dr. Seventh, Dr. Eighth and Dr. Ninth – more details here. The stories are set in a fictional universe called "Misterland", which is inhabited by the Mr. Men and Little Misses themselves, as well as some ordinary human characters such as shopkeepers, doctors and postmen. There are also various animals; Walter the Worm is the main animal who appears frequently. [12] The characters are human in their behaviours and attributes.

Next month sees the release of the next four titles in the Dr. Men book range, celebrating two of the world’s most iconic franchises, Doctor Who and Mr. Men. Dr. Men was a series of Mr. Men books focusing on incarnations of the Doctor, from the Dr. Who franchise, published by Puffin Books and written by Adam Hargreaves. The first four books – Dr. First, Dr. Fourth, Dr. Eleventh and Dr. Twelfth – are available now telling Time Lord stories with illustrations from Adam Hargreaves, son of the Mr Men & Little Miss creator, Roger Hargreaves. Dr. Fourth is a children's picture book written and illustrated by Adam Hargreaves and is a part of the Doctor Who Meets Mr Men and Little Miss series, which tells a story about the Fourth Doctor on the run with his companion, Sarah Jane Smith, from the Daleks who are chasing them. Today is National Dr Who/T.A.R.D.I.S. Day (23 November) and I thought it would be apropos to read this today. In February 2011, 20th Century Fox and 21 Laps Entertainment announced plans for an animated film. [6]In 2011, Sanrio, the Japanese design company best known as the creators of Hello Kitty, announced that they had reached an agreement to acquire the rights to the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters from Chorion after the company was forced into administration, so they used the THOIP company to take over. [7] This marked the first time that Sanrio had licensed a third-party character since owning the rights to Osamu Tezuka's Unico character in the late 1970s and early 1980s, which was returned to Tezuka Productions after Tezuka's death in 1989. Sanrio had also acquired the license to produce Peanuts merchandise for the Japanese market. In 2016, four new characters were launched to celebrate the series' 45th anniversary: Mr. Marvelous, Mr. Adventure, Little Miss Fabulous, and Little Miss Sparkle. Little Miss Explorer, a special book for Heathrow was also launched. Little Miss Valentine was introduced to the US market in 2019 with Little Miss Inventor being the latest mainline character to receive a book. Adam Hargreaves has also created several commercial characters, such as Mr. Glug for Evian water, Little Miss Miracle beauty cream, Mr. and Little Miss Gap, and Mr. First for money transfer company World First. In 2017, Adam Hargreaves launched a new series of books featuring characters from the BBC science-fiction series Doctor Who, with each book focusing on a different incarnation of the show's titular character. These were followed by editions based on the Spice Girls in 2019. [8] In February 2011, it was reported that 20th Century Fox Animation was developing an animated feature film based on the Mr. Men book series, with Shawn Levy producing the film through his company 21 Laps Entertainment. [3] On 27 January 2015, Fox Animation confirmed that it had acquired the film rights to the Mr. Men Little Miss characters. No updates on the film have been made as of 2022, however.
