Review originally posted at Snowbound in Montana and loved it! A Bramble House Christmas was even more magical -- set in the Bramble house B&B in the heart of Marietta. I loved the traditional Christmas activities (sledding, pond skating, strolling through down the main drag) and the coziness of the B&B. Usually I'm not a huge fan of books with babies and kids but this one was so well done!! Finn and Willa really got to know each other over the course of the book and everything felt right. All I can say is that I wish Marietta existed and that I could spend Christmas there!! Willa and her son Scout have traveled to Marietta, Montana to stay at the lovely bed and breakfast called the Bramble House for the three weeks before Christmas. Willa is a nurse who had a very generous patient leave the prepaid trip, a ring and fifty thousand dollars to her in his will after he passed away. Her son Scout had just beaten cancer so she felt the two needed the getaway to help Scout feel normal again. Both spend the next 3 weeks hiding their secrets while having this sense of something special for each other...Will new trust be broken and the opportunity to experience authentic love be lost...

Ultimately, Scout got his Christmas wish – to stay at Bramble House as long as possible. But it almost didn’t happen because of Finn. This is a heartwarming story and my only negative comment is like in many of todays films, they portray the heroine Willa Fairchild as a divorcee taking care of her son on her own. Maybe this is the reality of todays society of many of a single parent raising their children on their own after a broken marriage, but it then becomes the accepted norm rather than the exceptance in the family relationship. Perhaps the ending is a touch on the pat side, common with Hallmark. Do have to agree too that one character's change of heart does not make much sense (if there was any explanation provided it did escape me), is revealed too suddenly. Then after the inevitable confrontation, suddenly Molly is totally convinced she was wrong about Willa (because Willa cried and said so and stormed out of the room?). Finn is under a rigid 30 day timeline before the will can no longer legally be contested so he travels to the bed and breakfast that Willa and her young son Scout (Liam Hughes) are staying at over the Christmas and New Year period. The Bed and Breakfast lodge of Bramble House was a gracious gift to Willa and her cute as a buton son Scout donated by the deceased benefactor Mr. Conrad.Autumn Reeser leads the cast of ‘A Bramble House Christmas’ as Willa Fairchild, the protagonist who is tasked with taking care of a terminally ill patient. The actor is famous for her work in several romantic comedies for Hallmark, besides her prominent role in HBO’s ‘Entourage’ and ABC’s ‘No Ordinary Family.’ David Haydn-Jones portrays Finn Conrad, the patient’s son. You must have seen the actor in ‘ Supernatural,’‘ Modern Family,’ and ‘The Last Kiss.’ When Finn Conrad’s recently deceased father leaves his nurse Willa Fairchild (that he only knew for a very short time) fifty thousand dollars in his will, Finn travels to the Bramble House B&B in Marietta, Montana, where Willa is spending Christmas with her six-year-old son, to find out some answers from her. Once he meets Willa and gets to know her, Finn finds that she is far from the gold digger that he thought her to be and falls for both her and her adorable son, Scout. Overall, this was a great Hallmark movie. There was a clear theme of second chances, which materialized in multiple ways:

Even though Finn is gruff and starts in a dark place, he still cute and seems genuinely transformed by Willa. As they get to know each other, Finn casually interrogates both Willa and Scout about their lives, all the while concealing his true identity from them. While this clearly used a variation on the Hallmark Christmas movie formula, it was a fairly unique spin. It definitely didn’t feel like the plot we’ve seen in at five other movies over the years. ❤️ These Characters How can we stay mad at Finn after he promises to make everything up to her and Scout, promising the best Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, Arbor Day and even National Ice Cream Day. “Any day that you will let me make special for you.” We have this love story surrounded by the ever-present warmth of Marietta and all of the ongoing characters. There are questions about an old rumored affair, a secretive Santa, and a little boy with the strength and heart to bring all of them together in the end.A Bramble House Christmas’ was shot over three weeks in July 2017.
