Grotesk Burlesk was the ninth tour Marilyn Manson embarked on, under management of major record label Interscope Records. It was also the band's fifth tour to span over multiple legs. The band was on the tour from April 11, 2003 until January 3, 2004. I think they're very heartfelt. They remind me a little of Egon Schiele, but he's definitely bringing in his own Marilyn Manson thing, which is nice to see."

I have a lot of mixed feelings with TGAOG, on the one hand this is a record that has some of Manson’s finest work to date, but on the other hand some ideas don’t pay off. Manson is by far the weakest thing on this album, with, what seems to be, rushed lyrics and some really odd or corny melodies put in songs. Maybe if the album wasn’t 17 songs long and they condensed it down to 11 or 12 it would have stood up a lot stronger. Musically the album is fantastic. The album is really well produced and not only creates that really heavy sound, it creates a great atmosphere that remains consistent throughout. Due to Tim's commitment as producer for Marilyn Manson's 2003 album, The Golden Age of Grotesque, he was not able to feature in the line-up for KMFDM's 2002 Sturm & Drang tour (he did however make two guest appearances on June 4 and June 5).
