About this deal

No one ever plans for bad weather. And even if you do, nature has a way of getting us off-guard. Things like rain, dust, and wind are not always anticipated. But when you are out there in the wild, you better be prepared than be sorry. That’s why you need an all-weather flashlight like the E12. This light is built with a corrosion-resistant body. It has a waterproof rating of IPX-8, which means you can use it up to 2 meters underwater and for 30 minutes. Also, if dropped on the surface, it can survive impacts up to one meter. Another thing is that it has an indestructible Cree XM-ED LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours. This will last long for more than 5 years. Please take out the battery if the flashlight will not be used for a long time, or it may cause damage from electrolyte leakage or battery explosion. The Fenix E12 flashlight, a previous version of Fenix e18r, covers a great distance of 88 meters and uses a new technology, which is Cree XP-E2 LED, with a lifespan of 50 000 hours. It is powered by one AA flashlight battery, and these are very easy to replace. The Fenix E12 is easy to use and has a recessed switch to prevent accidental switching on/off of the flashlight. But before making the final decision, I have listed some pros and cons in this Fenix E12 flashlight review to save you time and effort. Here are the notable features: Technical Specs: Features Crenelated Bezel: No. On a light this small it doesn’t matter from a defensive standpoint; this light is not an effective impact weapon.

Most of the following measurements were taken directly from the runtime graph below, instead of the manual measurements, simply because I only have old data for some. So they can differ from the measurements in the review. Flashlight (and Link) Because the clip is two-way, this light will work well as a hatlight. And everything negative I said about bezel up carry would be a positive for hat light use. Power and RuntimeFenix is a brand that people have come to like very much due to its quality products and customer service. Unlike many flashlight brands, Fenix offers a one-year repair guarantee and a lifetime limited warranty on its products. So, this is what you will get when you buy the Fenix E12 LED flashlight.

Tail Stand: Yes, this light will tail stand. Not the most important feature, but I do appreciate the ability to provide diffuse lighting by standing a light on end and bouncing light off the ceiling. The runtime test was done with the 50cm integrating sphere, including the Kenko Pro1D ND-16 filter and Extech SDL400 data logging Lux Meter. The E12 V2.0 has a central beam angle of 12° combined with a spill beam angle of 85°, which offers a soft wide lighting area perfect for comfortable up close work. Equally it is capable of shining up to 68 metres on the highest setting should the distance be required, making the torch a superb companion for tradesmen and general every day use. Medium: 30 lumens. That is a very nice “in-between” setting, and about where I’d want a medium to be on this light.Fenixlight Limited was formed in 2001 by a group of enthusiastic young engineers intent on improving upon the lighting products then available. The o-ring may be worn out after using for a long time. If it happens, please replace the o-ring with a new one to keep the light properly sealed against water. Anti-Roll Flats: No, but the clip can arrest rolling, if need be. Category 5: Durability & Water Resistance If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.

Shown here alongside an Oveready BOSS 35 and a Fenix E01 V2. The E01 is not much smaller, and weighs just under an ounce. I’m not a huge fan of twisty interfaces, so I would almost always carry the E12 for the little bit of extra weight. When you open the box, one of the first things you’ll notice is the size. It’s one of the smallest AA flashlights currently on the market. Especially when you consider it has a tail switch. The Fenix E12 V2.0 is powered by a single AA battery. Let’s look at the modes now. In my opinion they are about perfectly spaced.High-power light should use battery with high current discharge capability; We suggest using high-performance Ni-MH rechargeable battery to increase the runtime of this high-intensity light. All output numbers are relative for my home-made Integrating Sphere. It is set up with an Extech SDL400 Lux Meter for measurements including a Kenko PRO1D ND-16 filter. The base measurement is done with a Convoy S2+ that was tested at 255 lumens. E12 V2.0 features all the hallmarks of Fenix quality including superbly engineered A6061 T6 aluminium construction, patented optically coated lens, bronze colour bezel ring, anti slip body and IP68 rated 2m waterproofing. Tail Switch: The tail switch isn’t terrible. It’s protected but still easily accessible. It feels a little mushy/spongy, but that’s not a huge deal. It doesn’t feel the best, but it works. The surface is nice, tactile rubber and it should be fairly durable.
