i don’t typically like kids in books but this was an exception! i loved the relationship btwn cade and his son and the growing bond btwn willa & cade’s son. it was pretty wholesome and would def recommend this book for anyone looking for something w no thinking required 😌 Friends to lovers is a trope I find really hard to write. You need the right balance between emotional and physical, you need the right amount of tension (you know, the thing that makes you scream at your Kindle?), and you need to see the friendship morphing into love as if it was never anything else. Powerless has all of this, in spades. Now onto the ship I didn’t had on my bingo card WINTER and THEO. I honestly wanted Winter and Beau for the reverse grumpy sunshine dynamic, but it seems like I’m getting it either way so I’m not too sad about it. i will say all the horny inner monologue pissed me offff, like hello this man is 38 why is he acting like a 14 yr old boy who has never seen a pair of tits before….I have adored this entire series from Elsie Silver so much. But this one - it just might take the cake. Jasper was EVERYTHING I wanted him to be AND MORE! and a thank you to everyone who kept telling me this series got better bc if you guys would’ve lied to me i would’ve raged quit this app 😗 You’re the least scary thing in my life. I was having a whole ass jungle of butterflies in my stomach whenever Willa and Cade had their moments together!! And I wanted to cry whenever Willa and Luke spend time together because of how adorable these two were… Fleeing her wedding in bare feet, is the most free she has ever felt outside of her childhood summers spent in Chestnut Springs with her cousins, and the boy she never stopped loving. I liked how the drama about Sloane's ex fiancé and her dad was not stretched for chapters and everthing was sorted smoothly.
The only good parts for me were seeing Willa be an absolute nightmare during her pregnancy (and I say that in the nicest way haha). you guys 🥹 i’m actually so surprised by how much i enjoyed this!!! that is hands down my fav in the series so far, and im so happy bc it was the one i was most looking forward to!! this one really felt more complex by how the others felt purely physical at first while this was a lot more emotional. I turn my head in, my lips dusting acros But then the book got sweet & swoony, then some more hot, then sweet again. It led my heart on a roller coaster ride. But I liked this book a lot. It was a great, hot read. All the side characters were great as well, Harvey Eaton, the dad, was particularly hilarious.
