About this deal

The Orient Mako has been something of an insider tip among watch enthusiasts for several years. With prices often below 200 USD, it offers world-class quality at remarkably affordable prices. Even the most popular entry-level Seiko watches can struggle to compete. Despite its low price tag, the Orient Mako is a robust diving watch that can stand up to the challenges and stressors of everyday life. It even offers practical functions like a day-datedisplay and unidirectional rotatable diving bezel. Thanks to its 60-minute scale, you can use the bezel to measure periods of time, such as dive durations or when cooking time-sensitive recipes. More than a decade later, Orient finally granted our wishes and came out with the Mako II – a similar watch to the original, but with an upgraded movement. Avoid setting the date on your F6922 watch within the hours of 8:00pm to 4:00am. In Orient Watch USA’s own words Its 200-meter water resistance rating, day-date display, and luminescent markers make it a highly functional watch suitable for everyday wear and diving. Its classic design and versatile style make it a great choice for anyone looking for a reliable and stylish dive watch.

It is also highly precise, with a rate of -15 to +25 seconds per day. This means that the watch will keep time within this range and is generally considered to be accurate for a mechanical watch in this price range. Orient Watch Co., Ltd. recommends that the watch be serviced every 3-5 years to maintain its accuracy and reliability. However, the exact service interval may vary depending on the usage and conditions of the watch. Can the Orient Mako II be used as a dive watch? Is it waterproof?Orient is a Japanese watchmaker that introduced us to a diving watch that took the market by storm nearly 15 years ago. There is not a lot of differences between the two – the USA version uses a sapphire crystal, as opposed to the mineral crystal on the plain Mako II watch. But more on that later. Unfortunately, I don't think the bezel action is quite as good as before, here, there's far more recoil and a less satisfying noise, though I doubt any of you take diving seriously enough to use this feature properly. There are obvious pros and cons with the Orient Mako II FAA00202D9, however this piece has something that many watches try for but can’t achieve. The congruence of all its disparate elements, good and bad, result in a wearing experience that’s greater than the sum of its parts. It’s like taking the recipe for a delicious dish – you isolate the ingredients and eat them on their own and it’s most likely going to be weird (you ever eaten raw cumin before?).

And with that said, there is some room for improvement for the bracelet of the Orient Mako II FAA02002D9, but if you consider its price, it’s not something that doesn’t come as a surprise. One of those things is the fact that the bracelet has hollow end links. This affects the feeling of robustness and rigidity in a negative way, but the bracelet isn’t terrible in any way and does the job. Orient offers a diverse collection of watches, including Orient sports watches, Orient diver watches, skeleton watches, and collections for both men and women. Their Orient Mako Automatic collection features professional-grade diver watches that can withstand water up to 200 meters. For women, Orient has a unique collection of elegant and beautiful watches that are both fashionable and robust. The Epson caliber YN56 (see Epson caliber YN55) appears to be essentially an F6922 without the Orient branding, for use in non-Orient watches. The finishing on the F6922 VS. YN55 is not the same. The finishing on the YN55 is closer to the Seiko NH35, which it is often compared to. Contrary to the above poster, the bracelet on the Mako USA II does taper, but it only goes from about 22mm to 20mm. Not sure why they said it doesn't as it's got a clearly visible taper from the endlinks. The Miltat/Strapcode bracelets for the Ray/Mako/Kamasu taper from 22 to 18mm at the clasp I believe, but none of the bracelets fit the Mako USA. However, improvements in production allowed Orient to put this quality calibre into more affordable models like the Mako II.The only area where the Mako II disappoints a little are the end-links – they are hollow, so you can expect some rattling noise. But it’s not the end of the world – and it does mean that the watch is somewhat lighter, which is ultimately better for diving and daily comfort. What’s even better is that the case and the bracelet go together perfectly. I bet you’ve had a watch where you felt like the bracelet just didn’t fit the case like they were pieced together from separate watches. That’s definitely not the case here (pun intended) – everything fits together well, and overall, it looks very classy. Overall, the F6922 is a reliable and accurate movement that provides good value for money. It is a key reason why the Mako II has gained a reputation for being one of the best affordable mechanical watches on the market. The Case: Stainless Steel 41.5 mm x 47mm x 13mm – beautifully classic case shape with excellent mix of polished and brushed surfaces – bezel can be hard to turn at times Dial In conclusion, the Orient Mako II is an outstanding dive watch that offers high quality, reliability, and style at an affordable price. With its advanced F6922 movement, improved bracelet clasp, and option for a sapphire crystal, the Mako II is an excellent upgrade to the already highly regarded Mako I.
