About this deal

The book examines how personality traits, and attachment styles affect love relationships. It places particular emphasis on how many of us get it so wrong--how early romantic infatuation blinds us to our partner's actual personality traits and attachment style, leading us to make poor long-term relationship choices. The book goes on to discuss how to prioritize and actively seek the partner qualities most important to you. As long as you are above the poverty line, and basic needs are met, then relationship stability isn't going to be anchored on wealth Before time began, the Queens of Fairy created this world and humans to live upon it, blessing you with a gift you can never repay. Though we fairykin are your divine parents—or “godmothers,” as some of your kind call us out of great love and affection—like any other parent, we temper our love with laws that every creature must obey. Still, Hardin, along with Landon, attends Richard's funeral to support Tessa. They go to a dinner hosted by Hardin's dad, Ken, and Landon's mom, Karen, along with Landon and his friend, Nora, to say farewell to Landon as he moves to NYC for school, where Nora also lives. A poignant, romantic, and delightful new novel about a young woman who refuses to believe happy endings are real, from internationally bestselling author Harriet Evans, who perfectly captures the complex lives of young twenty-first-century career women with an “effortlessly readable...comic style and loveable characters” ( Marie Claire , UK).

The Science of Happily Ever After by Ty Tashiro is a pop-sci book taking a data-driven approach to finding the partner of your life. The author defines "happily ever after" as a lasting relationship in which both liking and lust are fulfilled and describes which factors contribute to that outcome.

Even more critics will say romance isn’t realistic, that the stories don’t reflect reality. For one, there actually are people out there who have found their One True Love in a way they would describe as a “sweeping romance” or “fairytale love story.” For two, are you actually telling me that Fiction has to accurately reflect reality? Is that really an argument you want to make? Please, allow me to direct your attention to the entire speculative fiction genre umbrella, thrillers, action/adventures, medical fiction, westerns, and basically every fiction book that has ever been published and most of the memoirs. We don’t read books to read exactly the same things that happen in our real lives. Or, at least, I don’t. Nor anyone I personally know. But you do you, I guess? For example, a disagreeable partner can also be extremely honest and if well-intentioned to bring out the best in his partner - he would be more likely to speak up and tell his partner that he is slowly developing a vice, or simply going in a bad direction. On the way to the market, however, a man with an evil glint in his eye stopped the boy and offered him magical beans in exchange for the cow. “They’re made of shadow magic, boy,” the man said, grinning maliciously. “Trade me your cow, and they’ll bring you fame and fortune beyond your wildest dreams.”Lena frowned, closing the Story Book she’d been reading for school. The moral of the story wasn’t exactly subtle, but the ending bothered her. After all, the boy hadn’t been able to sell the cow, and the fairy queens’ beans weren’t going to grow for another year. Wouldn’t that mean the boy and his mother were still starving— We want the happy ending, we need it, and we deserve it. Life is stressful and hard and we want this escape. We need to see love claim victory over everything else. We’ve invested time and money and emotional capital in a book labeled “Romance” and we deserve the happiness promised to us by that label. Tashiro argues that we ultimately get three wishes for a partner. He argues that more than three wishes creates a statistical improbability. However, Tashiro’s algorithm tacitly assumes other unstated wishes, like the gender and age of our desired partner and the fact that that person lives in our country. If we add those unstated wishes, then we might get closer to six wishes. The fact that Tashiro left this off raises another important limitation that he omitted: we are likely to live in and socialize with people who are more similar to us than different. So, while, theoretically, choosing a Democrat over a Republican reduces our marriage pool by roughly half, that just isn’t the case if 95% of the people we know are Democrats.
