About this deal

I’mma Do My Own Thing” Interdimensional Destiny– If you’ve not been introduced to films that have a multiverse, here’s a crash course for you. And the score, oh boy, the score makes full use of the entire surround scape, dynamics and separation, it is astonishingly immersive, together with all the above places you right in the centre of it all. Incredible. Designing Spiders and Spots– There are a lot of characters in this film and we get a look at just a sampling of them all. Can you say “massive undertaking?” Miles carries on his double life. He reunites with Gwen. But she's got a problem. Then Miles meets his arch nemesis. Supposedly. The Spot! The Spot is a villain taken from Spider-Man comics. He's not the biggest threat there compared to some. And has been regarded as lame. But then things get threatening here. And in addition to his increasing problems of balancing things, Miles now has to contend with a threat to the Multiverse.....

The disc begins with a short anti piracy ad. Which can be skipped via the next button on the dvd remote. Across the Worlds: Designing New Dimensions (1080p; 7:52): A look at the different animation styles used in the movie. That is the only issue anyone could have with this movie. The slowing down and leaving it hanging that is, not that more is to come. Because otherwise it really an amazing film. It's a PG certificate so a bit too much perhaps for the very young to take in. I will say though it doesn't have anything, even with all that the animation does, that should bother epileptics or anyone who can't handle flashing lights. I am in the latter group and was fine with it. So that was nice. Deleted Scene– Only one –“Miguel Calling” though given the film’s running time of nearly two and a half hours, this was cut. It is loaded with continuity references. But this won't put non comic readers off. It is also firmly character driven and full of genuine emotion. It manages to balance it out perfectly with the humour.

Filmmakers Commentary: The only special feature included on both discs, writer-producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson have a very lively discussion on the various aspects of the film including animation design, voice performance, story, etc. Creating the Ultimate Spider-Man Movie– The obligatory “making of…” feature that tells of the trials and tribulations of how this movie was made, to make it bigger, better, etc. but still retain the magic that the first one had. A new animated Spider-Man movie. Sequel to 2018's 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse.' This will not make much sense if you've not seen that first film, so go and do it now if you haven't. Lyric Videos (1080p; 4:33): Annihilate by Mero Boomin, Swae Lee, Lil Wayne, Offset; Calling by Metro Boomin, Nav, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie with Swae Lee.

Raising a Hero: nine minutes on some of the characters and their dynamics. Also interesting to hear what is said. Forget that it’s an upscale, this Spidey image is out-of-this-world gorgeous. There aren’t enough superlatives to express how good this image is. The summer success and popularity of Across the Spider-Verse is not without controversy, though. Several animators came forward with claims of unsustainable working conditions imposed by producer Phil Lord during the making of the film, including numerous revisions and 11-hour workdays, seven days a week, forcing 100 animators to leave the project as a result. Viewers also complained about sound mixing issues during the movie's first week of its theatrical run, saying they had trouble hearing the dialogue over the music, although the studio later fixed the issue. From the moment the film began, I was captivated by the vibrant and dynamic animation style that sets the Spider-Verse apart. The kaleidoscope of colours and the fluidity of movement create a visual feast that is nothing short of breathtaking. The animation is not just a technical marvel. Still, it serves as a storytelling tool, enhancing the narrative and bringing the characters to life in a fresh and exhilarating way.Detail is perfect, you’d expect as much being held in the digital realm, with everything being pinpoint accurate representing the artists’ ‘pen’ without missing a beat.

Dialogue is natural sounding and given all the directionality it needs, did get a tad quiet when Gwen was leaving her father the second time, but otherwise never lost in the mix. You want eye candy? You want eye popping colour? You want one of the best video presentations ever? Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" swings into cinematic brilliance, offering a dazzling and innovative experience that transcends the boundaries of animation. The film seamlessly continues the groundbreaking narrative introduced by its predecessor (Which I enjoyed more), delivering a web-slinging, visually stunning and emotionally resonant adventure. In Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse the tone is about becoming an adult and spreading one's wings to figure out what one wants to be as Morales is hounded by his parents about his school work and staying close to home during his college years. After something goes awry in Stacy's universe, she is called into action by a collective of Spider-people from all universes to try and save the day when and wherever they can. Headed by Spider-Man 2099 Miguel O'Hara (Oscar Isaac) this collective allows Stacy to reteam with Morales who wants nothing more than to help out and be the best he can be. Just as he finally feels like he's being accepted, Milese soon realizes that his views of being a hero clash with Miguel's and the collective of Spider-people forcing Miles and Gwen to question their beliefs of right and wrong. Across the Comics-Verse (1080p; 8:03): Hiring many of the artists from the comic books to help design characters and worlds. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Cast– Essentially just that – we get a look at the actors voicing their roles, their “interactions” and so forth. Indeed, it is the interpersonal relationships, and the internal conflict of the characters that really move the story along – the ‘canon events’ that are so essential to the narrative are quintessentially the driving force behind the Spider-man character, and every Spider-man must go through them, it’s what makes him who he is. So, when Gwen is struggling with her father due to her own story, it is immediately recognisable even though the catalyst is different. This shared tragedy unites Gwen and Miles, hence their being drawn (haha, geddit) together. Thereby in writing the characters from this standpoint, there is a huge emotional hook, one of understanding - and one of justice; so, when it comes to choosing one over many, it is easy, and the audience is on board.

Scratches, Score and The Music of the Multiverse– At only five minutes, we get a peek at what it took to score the film along with some of the musical choices in this one. Across the Comics-Verse– Essentially a look at how the comics were used as inspiration for this film and how they managed to cram everything into this movie.

Across the Worlds: Designing New Dimensions– The title essentially says it all – we get the rundown on how the new universe(s) were created. Obscure Spiders and Easter Eggs– Six minutes probably isn’t enough time for us to get all the references hidden in this film. But it’s a start. Suffice it to say you could watch this movie ten times and still probably miss a few of these cleverly hidden items.
