About this deal

Melbourne’s own David Vitale was inspired to create a spirit that reflected his hometown’s famed ‘four seasons in a day’ temperature swings and captured the production values and craft of a city surrounded by some of Australia’s leading wine regions and regarded as the microbrewing capital of Australia. Without prejudice to the section Liability below, the Service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance, updates, etc. We shall make reasonable efforts to inform you of any unavailability due to maintenance or updates. Starward whiskies are a journey into a distinctively Australian spirit and the possibilities for New World whisky. Each whisky has the Starward stamp from our wine barrel maturation, yet each whisky differs and offers something new. From single malt to double grain, American or French oak influences or approachability and complexity. There’s a whisky for every drinker.

Each and every Member must be of legal drinking age in its country of residence to be allowed to use the Service. If no such law exists in a Member’s country of residence, the Member has to be over 21 years old to use the Service. We have the right to ask you to provide proof of your age and/or to provide further identification to prevent underage usage and/or for any other legal or legitimate purpose. By using the Service, and by creating an account you represent, warrant and confirm that you are of legal age. The former had a “fruity, slightly nutty aroma with japaleño and chilli notes”, while the latter offered “pear drops” on the nose with a “deliciously fruity palate”. The second Master winner, Nestville Whisky Single Barrel from Slovakia, was lauded for its “strong bold malt flavours, with a lovely hint of spice and fruit at the end” by Greifer. Neotia added: “Toffee apple with cinnamon, clove and dark chocolate dusting. Round, sweet, and smooth.”So that’s the new Starward: it’s not particularly left field but it’s a great mixer. And it certainly appeals to my European palate. We may, but are not under any obligation, to release new functionalities and tools or other features for the Service every now and then. Any new functionalities, tools and features shall be part of and governed by the Terms from the moment they are launched and/or available. Further, we reserve the right to modify, change, discontinue the Service, add or remove features, update the Service, change its appearance, temporarily and permanently, at any time, in whole or any part thereof. Another Gold also went to Romania’s Carpathian Single Malt Whisky Cognac Cask Finish, enjoyed for its “nice maltiness” on the nose and hints of “chocolate, malt, cereal and some red fruits”. Sixteen Silver medals concluded the flight. Uresti was particularly positive about the European single malts: “You can see the whole category has a solid and consistent quality, and we see they’re getting better, replicating things done in Scotland and Ireland in a good way.” A whisky distilled in Melbourne is not really as outrageous as it sounds. The city is surrounded by some of Australia's best wine regions and has had a craft brewery scene that can hold its own against any major city in the world. So it was only a matter of time before somebody had the bright idea to create a Melbourne whisky.

David Vitale, Starward Whisky co-founder, said: "We all have a 'special occasion' whisky cabinet which is overflowing with options, but the sharing cabinet is curated. We believe we have an opportunity to elbow out some space and create an alternative to the great whiskies from around the world with an Australian whisky, matured in Australian wine barrels." The finish is long and generally soft, before becoming slightly hot and peppery right at the end. The sweet elements and then the fruity characeristics fade and this leaves the malted cereals from the nose and warming baking spices from the palate to become more prominent. No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. Testing a range of whiskies from England, America, Canada, India and more, The Good Housekeeping Institute’s WSET-certified experts tasted 34 drams, from super-smooth and easy-drinking to full-bodied and spicy. The first category to be put to the test was blended whiskies from Europe, where three Master medallists were discovered.
