About this deal

You need to be patient with yourself. Some days, despite your efforts, will not go to plan. You need to trust when Allah intervenes and turns your plans upside down, placing you on a different path. You need to be patient for the answer to your du’a. You need to be patient when you feel you are doing this alone, unsupported. You need to choose patience because patience is always needed on any journey and this journey of God-consciousness is the most intense, most surprising, most beautiful and yet testing journey of them all. Know when you choose patience, really choose it from deep within, know “Allah is with the patient” (Surah Anfal 8:46)” When publishing giants Penguin Books approached Aliyah Umm Raiyaan last year to write a book about Ramadan she immediately said yes. After a gruelling month of non-stop writing, she presented her first draft of Ramadan Reflections. The introduction alone, had me bracing myself. The quote Aliyah used to end the introduction, allured me to surrender my heart & mind- to accept her invitation, and embark on a soul searching journey. This is a simple Ramadan journal that anyone can use, whether kids or adults. You can adapt our printable Ramadan Journal for the whole family. My Ramadan Journal

Taking inspiration from her own life and journey into Islam Aliyah explained: “I wanted them to develop an awareness of themselves by the end of the book. Ramadan is one of the most sacred and spiritually intimate months of the Islamic calendar. It is a time of devotion, where one can nurture their relationship with Allah―breaking away from normal daily routine and spent in a constant state of faithful awareness. This isn’t a flaw per se🌚, just personal preference, but because of the nature of the book (the author sharing her personal experiences), there are many parts that I found repetitive, which dampened parts of my reading experience. Ramadan reflections is a unique compilation- partially biographical. The content is filled with a myriad of Quran references, Hadith, sources from scholars, notable authors & words of ordinary people. The book is divided in to 30 parts; a segment intended for each day of Ramadan. Each day is dedicated to a single topic to reflect & ponder upon, a space for assisted journaling & concluded with a perfectly selected, person centred, prescribed Dua. Each topic seamlessly correlating with the previous & proceeding chapter.I think this is a book I will return to, not only during Ramadan but at any time of the year when I consciously want to reconnect to Allah and worship more meaningfully. I liked how the book didn’t have too much journaling in it tbh, bc I usually don’t like to journal (lol surprising I know as a writer- but I prefer typing to pencil writing). This book was the perfect amount of text and journaling balanced- and it was written in such an impactful way that I found myself really soaking in each chapter and pausing and enjoying the journaling process at the end!

As a guided journal, the book takes the reader through a personal and intimate journey from the past, present and future. There are some deep spiritual reflections in there, allowing readers to heal and become more present.” It's a book that pulls you in as you find yourself reflecting over the gems shared by the author. There were times when I would re-read a paragraph due to how much it hit home. I felt seen, heard and validated. I felt as though it was speaking to me rather than at me. Like someone holding your hand and accompanying you through each step. I This book is an invaluable tool for finding a deeper spiritual connection to the holy month of Ramadan. It is split into 30 chapters, conveniently representing the 30 days of Ramadan, and it is suggested to read a paragraph a day and truly reflect on what is being said. Every chapter connected with me at a different level and allowed to me contemplate and gain a better understanding of myself and my journey. What a book! Each word in Ramadan Reflections should be written in gold! A masterpiece. I couldn't stop reading it as it felt like it was written for me, I felt so sad when I finished reading it. Ramadan Reflections is filled with practical exercises, journaling prompts, and Du'aa invitations, all designed to enable deeper reflections on the learnings and further your ability to manifest this into actions. Each chapter concludes with extra writing space for contemplation both on the theme that day as well as their overall spiritual transformation. My favourite chapters were forgiving others and life audit. These two chapters resonate with where I am at now in my life. It felt like a book given to me by my older sister/mother - a heartfelt step by step guide for life. She has written the book in a relatable way to the Holy Month of Ramadan and which I find can be used in any month of the year. I’m super grateful for the many life-changing tidbits I took away from this book🤲🏾. They changed my approach to worship this Ramadan, and hopefully, for every daily worship to come. Ramadan Reflections is a must-have intimate guided journal to deepen your individual connection to Allah for the year ahead. With inspiring reflections, practical exercises, powerful quotes and drawing from the spiritual wisdom of the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah, it offers an invitation to… You can color code these days, organise your Qur’an reading by section, make a separate plan for the first ten days, last ten days and so on – whatever you need.

Bismillaah. This book has honestly helped me emotionally and most importantly, spiritually as it opened my eyes to view life in a different light. I truly enjoyed reading every chapter each day throughout the month of Ramadhan, and it became a routine for me to do a self-reflection after reading them with the prompts Aliyah came up with. To add, the heartfelt du'as written at the end of each chapter instills hope, love and faith that made readers feel re-newed, re-energized, and definitely enlightened - while striving to seek for self-betterment through the lens of an akhirah-focused future. I also love how she compartmentalized the chapters in the first 10 days of Ramadhan, mid-Ramadhan and the last 10-days of Ramadhan, focusing on the different aspects one needs to prioritize and noted down the ways one can reconnect with God. Ramadan reflections is an intimate journal split into 30 chapters for the 30 days of Ramadan which guides you towards reflection, healing, deepening your spirituality and wisdom with Islam as the guiding light, leading you closer to Allah through the many tests you may face.Behaviour is the way our faith shows in action. So we want to raise our kids and ourselves to be a kind individual who benefits the society around us. Within each chapter, the author shares her own personal stories and experiences related to each topic. She weaves in ayahs from the Quran, Hadiths, and quotes from Islamic texts. Each chapter ends with a dua, which was my favourite part. We often make the same duas without my variation and we don’t know what else to ask for, but Aliyah has written some beautiful duas related to the messages in each chapter and they really felt meaningful and heartfelt. It's well written and will speak to everyone in some way- each chapter has a theme and the writing style- part memoir, part advice- is really well balanced. It felt like having a conversation with a trusted friend.

Ramadan Meal Planner Whist reading, each chapter resonates so deeply, touching every chord within me. The perfect, meticulously chosen words have a profound effect. I found myself on a soulful journey, hand in hand, with a companion by my side. A journey of self discovery, spiritual healing, to find purpose & a passage to reconnect with my creator. In my latest for @The_NewArab I examine @MuslimCensus and @tacollective_ ‘s recent report findings on Muslim women’s faith experiences in Britain Onto repentance on Day 6; moving forward to self-love on Day 14 to having tāwwakụl on Day 23 and one of my faves learning the beauty of istakhara on Day 27 — it has been like a mental rollercoaster ride. There have been days I’ve cried. Cried thinking about my past, thinking about the hardships, trials and of my sins. I’ve cried whilst learning to let go by forgiving others (Day 7). I was always a believer in forgiving, not so much in forgetting but that day I truly let go… The anger. The hurt. The pain. I let it all go. And from that day the journey to Allāh seemed more easier! I felt my heart really open wide. Spending further days smiling whilst learning of the blessings Aliyah had and has ma’sha’Allāh (Allāhụmma barįk laha); feeling hopeful that I too will get through my hardships with persistence and a little sabr (Day 26).
