About this deal

The 2007 film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist, directed by Frank Darabont, is another story in this tradition. Although it at times struggles with its smaller budget, it’s still a pretty good movie with some solid acting. In our How to Paint Everything series, we take a look at different armies of the Warhammer universe, examine their history and heraldry, and look at several different methods for painting them. With Halloween fast approaching, we’re looking at how to paint the spookiest monsters around. In today’s HTPE, we’re looking at how to paint fearsome monsters that live inside each of us – Skeletons.

Painting Skeletons is really about methods for painting bone, and so that’s really what we’re exploring today – multiple techniques for painting bones. And also Skeletor. Skails’ MethodStep 5(Left)- This layer is a mix of Hyek Yellow and Dead White. Hit a smaller portion of the Screaming Skull to build up a brighter highlight. We’ll be taking a look at their updated rules in the future – so keep a bloodshot eye on Warhammer Community for more necromantic news. Shade down with Agrax Earthshade (I’ve been experimenting with Cryptek Armorshade Gloss recently though)

Currently I’m working on a knight despoiler that’s been hanging out for far too long, here’s a peek behind the curtain: Begin to highlight up, using your base mix at first, then slowly adding more white to the mix until your topmost highlight is almost pure white When I came to Age of Sigmar a few months ago, one faction really stood out for me: the Ossiarch Bonereapers. Sold as elite warriors forged from stolen bone, the biggest, baddest, and most brutal of Nagash’s unliving forces can be found in the Bonereapers’ ranks. Perhaps somewhat Necron-like in appearance, given their bone-carapace, multi-limbed aesthetic, it is refreshing to find something on the spooky side that isn’t just yet another skeleton army or horde of shambling zombies. Of course, this is on offer – and looks great – in other wings of Nagash’s Grand Alliance Death, but with the Ossiarch Bonereapers themselves, it feels as if some real thought and originality has gone into the direction of the faction.

All of the ropes and leather straps on the model, including the grip on the weapon and shield, were tidied up with Wraithbone, before getting a coat of Gore-Grunta Fur.

Step 2(Right)- This is Mahogany thinned to a watery consistency. The paint should flow off the brush into the recesses. Hit all the areas between bones and teeth along with the recesses on sides of skull and jawbone. Its delicate, shimmering tones are perfect for capturing the moody, atmospheric feel of the Warhammer 40K universe. What armies can you paint with Morgast Bone? John Carpenter’s 1982 film The Thing is one of the greatest movies ever made and a wonderful example of a creature that is as alien and weird as they come. Coat D'Arms match the OLD citadel colours (pre-1992) so there might be some difference. Shining gold has the most noticeable difference, Next, I hit all the raised areas with more Ushabti Bone and a successive layer of 70/30 Ushabti Bone/Wraithbone, using a bit of the excess (watered down) to add a smooth transition on the tentacles.

After that I did the cloth, which is Levithan contrast highlighted with layers/Glazes of Phoenician Purple mixed with increasing concentrations of Morghast Bone. Continuing on from using a bone colored paint I did the skellies themselves, which were just Skeleton Horde highlighted with Screaming Skull that gets a bit of White mixed in for later highlights. These cunning artificers are the latest addition to the disciplined ranks of the Ossiarch hosts. Katakros and his underlings have been busy refining their tactics, sharpening their nadirite, and practising their magics to conquer the Mortal Realms for the Supreme Lord of the Undead. That’s it, your Saurus is done! If your shield has areas that you want to make stone, like I did on mine, just follow the same steps from the stone weapon.http://www.wargamesfoundry.com - also do a range of similar to Citadel paints, will update when can get chance. And that’s it for the skin. Seriously. The drybrushed highlights also help a bunch with the next step. Put Flesh Tearers Red contrast on fur, hair, and anywhere you want gore. I usually coat the hands, feet, mouth, and the occasional elbow or knee. Bone details get Ushabti Bone, Skeleton Horde Contrast, and highlights of Ushabti Bone and Screaming Skull. The model is primed with Mechanicus Standard Grey , with any patchy areas touched up using the same colour from the pot . The very edges of the gold areas were then highlighted with Liberator Gold before both the gold and silver got a final edge highlight of Stormhost Silver . I also added small scratches to the armour and weapons at this point. Again, less is more.
