About this deal

This edition, a facsimile of the first edition, is published in the original paper and cloth-spine binding. As a child I spent many hours reading and re-reading this book in the dark winter nights, dreaming of spring and to catch a Tench!

No matter how commonplace it seems now, in a generation it'll seem like something from another planet.Chip to tape at top of spine and mostly missing from spine edge, covers rather used, prize winner inscription to inside front cover. Team Crabtree have almost re-invented the wheel with this insightful, beautifully written and delightfully illustrated modern masterpiece.

Jack Hargreaves, later famed for his wonderful 'Out of Town' television series, said he would handle the subjects, though it turned out he knew little more than Bernard. It can be said that this looks as if it ought to be a good day, and quite often it will turn out so; and an apparantly bad day will generally prove to be so. I think to completely safeguard your offspring's heritage you should purchase a complete set of Bernard Venables' 'Lets Go Fishing with Mr Cherry and Jim' books ASAP, I know they are expensive but it's always better to be safe than sorry! So long ago that fixed spool reels were newly on the market, and fibre glass was entirely in the future. WITH COLOUR ILLUSTRATIONS AND THE FAMILIAR B/W STRIP STORY TELLING STRAIGHT OUT OF THE OLF DAILY MIRROR FEATURE.Crabtree Goes Fishing, created by Bernard Venables, was originally published in The Mirror newspaper in the 1940s. Come join the discussion about safety, licenses, tips, tricks, rivers, reviews, accessories, classifieds, and more! BOUND IN PICTORIAL LIMP WRAPS, WITH COLOUR ILLUSTRATION OF FISH IN LANDING NET, AND CLEAR TITLES TO FRONT COVER, THIS DATED 1959 FIRST EDITION SIXTH IMPRESSION IS VG.

I get a kick out of taking out the old fiberglass rods every now and then, and I keep the first reel my dad bought me, a Zebco 202 as well as an old Mitchell spinning reel all oiled and ready to go.

He could go fishing," Bernard suggested, and so one week Mirror readers saw Crabtree digging his allotment. Any fisherman knows that the boy in the angler never dies and reading this book is like taking a trip back in time. It was an immediate success and developed into a fishing page, with Bernard as the angling correspondent. Crabtree, in his fishing adventures with his son Peter, passed on not only his knowledge of angling, but his love and reverence for this great sport of ours.
