About this deal

I think the AA interface is much better than the standard SYNC system, plus voice control etc is very usable, and Google Maps is always available.

USB is a message packet protocol and the original spec permitted up to 127 daisy chained devices, that's an awful lot of connections to the last device. While the dongle has been immensely popular in the US, it was never made available to other markets. Motorola will be changing that soon, as it will begin selling the device in the UK and several other countries in Europe. There are plenty out there that have them — yet also force you to plug in to use Android Auto, which charges the phone at the same time anyway. I'm just not sure about further down the line, and for someone who isn't as tech-savvy, troubleshooting this thing would feel tenuous. Wireless Android Auto has something of a reputation for battery drain, which I could sort of see with the Motorola MA1. Come join the discussion about performance, modifications, classifieds, troubleshooting, maintenance, and more!

It is also very easy to set up the MA1: plug the adapter into your car’s Android Auto-enabled USB port and then pair the device to your phone via Bluetooth. I have a similar Dongle but iPhone and when I’m using the it wirelessly it disconnects from the wireless charging pad and the reason is the phone over heats and gets hot because it’s connecting wirelessly through the dongle and there must be a safety setting in the car to disconnect. Tomorrow, a new wireless Android Auto dongle under the Motorola brand will officially launch, and – based on our brief first impressions – the Motorola MA1 seems like a great option. While the included sticky pad doesn’t offer the greatest adhesion, that's inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. That may change in due course, though, especially if Motorola adds to its in-car gadget lineup with similar products. I don't have the wireless charging, but whenever I plug my phone into the car, I get a warning on the phone (S22 Ultra) that the charge rate is very low and suggests using another source. Thus far, the company behind Motorola Sound has only offered the MA1 wireless Android Auto dongle in the United States and only through two retailers.
