About this deal

This may include special days for particular faith like Lammas in the Christian faith in August, Bank Holidays, major sport events and other yearly landmarks like the Notting Hill Carnival. I have often bought an Almanac for the coming year and they have varied in quality, usefulness and beauty. Dipping into these pages throughout the year will give us the insight into why things are celebrated along with nature. It is littered with black-lined illustrations and images that correspond perfectly to the item they accompany. Divided into the 12 months, a set of tables each month gives it the feel and weight of a traditional almanac, providing practical information that gives access to the outdoors and the seasons, perfect for expeditions, meteor-spotting nights and beach holidays.

The front cover is sooo gorgeous, perfectly designed with themed drawings of planets, nature, animals, in beautiful eye catching colours. An Almanac provides astronomical and meteorological data for any given year including the rising and setting times of the Sun, schedules for the tides and Spring tides, tables of Moon phases and planet positions, a monthly calendar of special days, traditional events and historical knowledge, all of which are a pleasure to explore and enjoy through the seasons. The independent-minded quarterly magazine that combines good looks, good writing and a personal approach.Thank you to Anne of Random Things Tours and to Octopus Books for the opportunity to join the blog tour for The Almanac by Lia Leendertz, illustrated by Whooli Chen. There are also features on each month's unique nature, such as the meteor shower of the month, beehive behaviour, folklore, seasonal recipes and charts tracking moon phases and tides. These little books are a delight and cover much more than you would find in a typical Farmer's Almanac which obviously relates more to matters affecting agriculture and fishing. This audiobook combines content from all Lia Leendertz’s Almanacs and is updated annually to include new recipes, tips, stories and seasonal information to accompany you throughout the year.

Reconnect with the seasons in Britain and Ireland with this month-by-month guide to the world around us - including key dates, tide tables and garden tasks; constellations and moon phases; sunrises, folk songs, seasonal recipes plus a 'bun of the month'; and - because 2023 will be a good year for planet spotting - the solar system and the zodiac. There are also features on each month's unique nature, with this instalment following the swirling micro world of the garden pond through the year. Having adopted our first dog over 4 years ago, I found myself starting to appreciate how our local area changes over the year in terms of the natural world on our daily dog walks.

Illustrated this year by artist Whooli Chen, this beautifully designed pocket book is ideal to carry around in your day bag for reference, to while away a few minutes or as an indispensable guide with literally everything you could need to know about each month and how the seasons affect them. And so this month we come to glittering, sparkling life, just as nature reaches its most complete hibernation. Including the moon, gardens ( what to look out for and the wildlife) recipes, different starsigns and also with each month it tells you what dates certain things are happening. It is hard not to resent this in the moment that it happens, and in the following days as we wrestle with this new dose of darkness just when we need it least.
