About this deal

Creating a vision of your ideal future self gives one (who may feel hopeless) something to aim for, and the concept may well be semantics but it does seem to work. I only got about a fifth of the way through the book before it started to feel redundant, and I stopped reading. Across the three sections of the book, Hardy guides the reader on a journey that, if traversed, can be life changing. Since then, his work has been featured in publications such as the New York Times and Harvard Business Review.

It is geared towards the entrepreneur but honestly anyone in any walk of life could benefit from this. I really like the concept of being your “future self” and appreciated how Hardy laid out most of the steps to get there. Now that you have a feel for your future self and efficient systems and schedules directing you toward it, you’ll start to see momentum build. I did like how the images/charts broke up the text, but at times they felt unnecessary as they re-stated information that had already been conveyed several times. And enjoy a clear path to the expansive, abundant you by heeding the steps to becoming your future self – for example, systemizing success and prioritizing completion over perfection.

Then, in the final chapters, it becomes what strikes me as a gloss on one of the funniest (cringiest) songs from The Book of Mormon. Commitment is Key: Hardy quotes Clayton Christensen, emphasising that it's easier to commit 100% than 98%. Not saying it isn’t important to be in touch with who we were, but getting in touch with your future self is nuclear powered!
