About this deal

The tailcap must be fully removed to access the port, so I had hoped Anker managed to make this waterproof. The flashlights in every room is related to earthquakes where a person may be trapped behind a moved wall, stuck door. Unfortunately, this Anker LC90 flashlight review is an example of why independent testing and skepticism are important, and reviews on an e-commerce site may not be as reliable as you would hope. Not only is it great having a rechargeable flashlight, I love that it has a zoom ability so you can focus the beam on certain spaces. That includes the outer shaft, the battery, one of the battery terminals, and the button end of the light.

Anker states 6hr charge time, mine was almost fully charged out of the box and took just over an hour to top it up to full. This torch has multiple modes as most “tactical” torches do, High, Medium, Low, Strobe and Emergency. The light is cool in temperature and on high is very bright, more than adequate on medium and not much of a reduction in low mode. Over the last few years I’ve own 4 Anker Flashlights 3 were the same product and gave three lights away as Christmas gifts once I completed my tests and made sure they will work for those that I were giving them to. I like the usb charger as I can take it in the car and charge it via the cigar lighter point with a usb fitting.Photographing light at distances in the dark is obviously tricky but here’s a few at different distances. I feel it performs best in wide zoom to flood an area with light, although you do suffer from that dull spot in the middle of the beam. Equipped with a USB charging port, the Anker LC90 offers the convenience of recharging the flashlight without the need for disposable batteries. The issue with a narrow tall LC90 is it probably cannot (reliably) be on its its end as a room light.

The Anker Rechargeable Bolder LC90 LED Flashlight is a powerful pocket sized flashlight that will light of the night that is built to last. SUPER-BRIGHT: 900-lumen (max) Cree LED sweeps bright light over the length of about two football fields (660 ft / 200 m) and reaches nearly 1000 ft. In general terms, FL1 Standards say that runtime is measured as the total time from the peak output when the light is first turned on with a fresh battery to the point where light output drops to 10% of the original output. Overall, while this is still a well-performing flashlight, for most people I think the original LC90 is a better choice. Now I'll take my chances with the LC130, hoping it'll be the best of both worlds with a wide, full flooded beam and decent centre brightness.Since we’re right in the middle, I want to do a test to see who actually read these reviews, and who just looks at the pictures. James spends most of his free time using social media and loves to teach others about design, web development, CSS, SEO, and social media. Also, I can’t tell but couldn’t you just swap the end caps where the power button is from one version to the other or are they different size? I really don’t know why Anker doesn’t shout about this and quote the high power run time in their spec list.

So, for the homeowner keeping a light next to his or her bed, or the cop working a long night shift, this is a significant drawback. I think the LC-40 is about as good as a flashlight gets, literally everybody should have one, but Anker needs to make a headlamp. Anker states the LC90 flashlight has a total light output of 900 lumens and a peak beam intensity of 6,500 candelas. The problem with the charging system is that you have to disassemble the rear of the flashlight to access the charging port. I could have better understood the location of the charging port if its placement allowed Anker to make the flashlight submersible. My only complaint is that it is somewhat difficult to switch between light modes but other than that, it is a great flashlight and worth every penny. That doesn’t mean its a bad product, it could just mean I lack imagination, or the need, For me I have only 2 problems to solve (for the LC90 typical problem) which walking dog at night and surviving a power outage.

I wish that instead of using the power button to change settings, it had a different button on the side to do so, since I will hardly ever use a setting other than high. From 100% output to less than 9% output – the generally accepted measurement in the industry – the LC90 showed a runtime of 4 hours 17 minutes. The older LC90 used two caps the inner screwed down on the battery and the outer cap offered the button but compare with the older LC40 which had no USB port (remove battery to recharge) and the newer LC40 contains one cap which is combined charger+button.Living in the middle of the countryside it gets very dark, so a strong torch was urgently needed and found. I used several times when walking in the dark around the property and going into one of the unlit out buildings at night.
