While it kept my attention throughout, I had to read this in pieces as I wanted to pace myself on the graphic details and content matter. I received a copy of this book thanks to the publisher via NetGalley, many thanks for the opportunity to review the book. Then human remains are discovered buried in the grounds of a former children’s home, threatening to bring to light a legacy of disturbing secrets. Therefore, I decided that despite my lengthy TBR, I would read the series in its entirety, one title every month. It’s a perfect start for someone like me who likes to settle in to assemble clue

All I can say is that this crime novel, “Silent Scream” by Angela Marsons was amazing, and I was very surprised to see that this was her debut novel. After years of writing relationship based stories (The Forgotten Woman and Dear Mother) Angela turned to Crime, fictionally speaking of course, and developed a character that refused to go away. If I wasn't so knocked off just now I would have read this in one sitting, it is a great introduction to what I am told is a fantastic series. Maybe it is just me, but has anyone else noticed the trend to have female investigators have troubled pasts? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will undoubtedly be reading the next book in this series, sooner rather than later.

She is complex and comes complete with her own demons that she keeps in a dark secluded corner of her mind, seldom to be allowed out to play.

The discovery of the bones not only throws a new light onto the investigation but causes Stone to revisit her own past and demons. The Chapters are short, which makes it easy reading and easy to stop and start with (perfect for me with a toddler in the house!This is the first of a series, and I was intrigued by DI Kim Stone, and her team, from the start, growing to love their tenacious and relentless efforts to bring justice to those who have been lost.

With murders and crime and suspects, it truly was one hell of a ride that has only left me wanting to read Angela's next book in the series ASAP!Silent Scream is a brilliantly written, complex story, and a great start to a fantastic series of books. This doesn’t happen to me all that often, so it goes without saying, that I am definitely on board for book two, and can’t wait to see how this series shapes up.

The secondary characters on the force are still shoved a little too far into the background to get a true reading of them, but I’m sure their personalities will flesh out as we go along. I have read three of the four Kim Stone crime thrillers at this point, and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them.So excited to share the prologue of Dying Truth - book 8 in the Kim Stone series which is going on to Netgalley very, very soon! I am not looking forward to the graphic child abuse scenes, but I agree, sometimes you have to read it to understand the character and their motivation.
