About this deal

HF: ALCHEMIST FOSERTI ADP15A MkII Class A, Arcam Alpha 5+ CD, Monitor Audio Studio 2 MkII, AudioQuest Quartz, AudioQuest Midnight III, Unicorn Feet. When the sub-bass synth hits come in after a few measures, they catch your attention—there's some serious low end here, but it sounds natural, even in a song built on samples and electronic patches.

While the Sennheiser show a more neutral sound profile, they perform more inconsistently with different people. The Audio-Technica ATH-M40x and the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro 2016 are both decently neutral-sounding closed-back headphones. The majority of decisions are given instantly, so you could get your new gear sooner than you thought!I have my Grados, 428 and Bose OE for colored reproduction; these are for more analytical listening. While they excel in terms of durability and build, their audio performance may leave audiophiles wanting more. For those seeking superior options in the realm of headphones for mixing, mastering, and music production, be sure to check out my dedicated article on the subject. They’re primarily constructed from a robust plastic material, which, at first glance, appears sturdy and durable.

When I come back, the consensus is "the senn hd280 is crap, has always been crap, and will continue to be crap" now I'm a bit confused as just 5 years ago it was considered quite nice. The Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO are better neutral listening headphones than the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro 2016. When I first saw the "New" Sennheiser HD 280 Pro a little over a year ago, I said "Oh, I guess they changed the headband pad? I was able to sit in front of some folks having a loud meeting one day and it didn't bother me in the slightest. In my own personal non-scientific tests, these isolate just as well for my needs as the also-excellent DT770 Pro.

If the adaptiveness issues were not as detrimental, there would be a great potential for them to be a great tool for numerous tasks. However, the ear cup joints are the weak points where these headphones are most likely to get damaged. As comfort and performance continue to be driving factors for those looking for new headphones, the HD 280 PRO’s are becoming more and more popular for those wearing headphones for long interviews and recording sessions. Unless mine are broken or they were grey market oddities then I don't know what accounts for the sound. After listening to them for about the 4th time, I realized that I wasn't happy with the sound at all.

These headphones don't have active noise cancellation and don't achieve any isolation in the bass range. Claimed as the most significant closed, around-the-ear headphones to be introduced in recent memory, the HD 280 features a robust construction combined with excellent sound quality that exceeds professional demand. While they’ve long been held in high regard, it’s essential to scrutinize their performance and features to determine whether they actually live up to the hype or if there are any hidden shortcomings.

With that said, if you get them for tracking and the perceived low-end response proves to be balanced for you, HD 280 Pro’s can come in handy for some production/mixing on the go. The HD280 pro's feature a closed back over ear design so that you get a comfortable fit over your ears with great isolation from the outside world and also minimal sound spillage when you've got them on. Even tho I might not completely agree with your conclusions(try comparing them against some truly analytic/neutral ones), I do think the HD280Pro is a decent set of cans. The volume at which I listen to music on it has to be way lower than I thought, cause it feels like it's hurting my ears otherwise. You’re right about the 280; it can be rather dull sounding at times and I think for me it boils down to 2 things.
