About this deal

We do our best to inform the readers of what they are looking at so they can find the products for themselves if they are interested.

Now I need to get some painting done, as there hasn’t been any since January and there are deadlines looming! To the Dwarves and Beastmen I have added further adversaries in the form of contingents based on GW’s Bretonnians, Orcs, Empire and Kislev. I am toying with the idea of an increase to the the firing distances (and possibly movement too) that I’ve been using for Fantasy 15mm (where I’m simply halving all standard distances in the rules) to make shooting feel a bit more ‘realistic’ and long range. Although these rules are more complex than we're used to, they are presented in such a user-friendly way that it's easy to get your head around them with a few reads.I had a Hero (or Commander) in the Heavy Riders Unit and a Wizard in one of the two units of Heavy Foot. Let scenarios drive the game and make the victory conditions interesting and feel like a narrative story. Battlefield confusion and chaos means that you might not get to use every one of your units in every turn of the game, so start thinking about your unit's priorities during the game even before you've taken your first move of the game.

Scenarios, army lists, and full rules for magic and monsters give players the opportunity to command unruly orc warbands, raise armies of the undead, campaign across an antediluvian world as the warchief of a barbarian tribe, or exploit the power of mighty creatures and extraordinary sorcery. I think that is half the fun with this game, reading the descriptions and applying them to units to give them the right feel. Nathan decided to split force and resemblant of a Zulu attack of the Bull he skirted the river and woods on the left while wolf riders and chief in chariot stormed across the bridge while ogres and Goblins on the right, waded the river towards the Hobbit bows and 95th RIFLES. Yes indeed, at least in my point of view, as I already are a keen Dragon Rampant fan and I love to be able to go through my LoTR collection and also maybe building me a new warband from my plastic pile as well to have a look at all new stunning fantasy models that are out on the market, now I got a well designed and cost effective set of rules that give me the kind of easygoing game I want ! Now a strategy in games like this, Warmaster is a good example, is that you try to activate the units that are more likely to succeed.

If you are interested in a similar game in a different setting, we have a Battle Report and First Impressions Article for the game. There’s a few holes in the rules, which is OK (they’re free, after all), especially if you’re a group of friends and playing the game in the spirit of fun.
