The plastic tool will flex when you apply pressure which also makes it easier to flatten bumps in the paste and create a smooth, even surface.

GW do a very good job of producing various painting videos on their youtube channel, so take a look there. The labels on the pots provide clear identification of the paint color and effect, making it easy to locate the desired paint in your collection. On the second version, I apply as little texture as possible, while still covering the base in its entirety to make a thin version. The grit in the paints is made of plastic microbeads which is very bad for the environment if you flush excess material in the drain (do not do that! If you do the thin version you would have to use other materials in combination to make the base look good.

In many ways, these paints are a shortcut to a great looking base and the grit texture massively helps ‘cheat out’ a great base with minimal effort. That said, it is hard to see how a wash and a drybrush will achieve exactly the results they have on their pictures. The US Moon landing in 1969 first gave us a real view of what Warhammer 40k xenomorphs may have seen as they prepared for the invasion of Terra. The colour remained the same for all of them in the drying process, but all of the paints shrunk a bit after it was dry. The paints are designed to be compatible with other Citadel paints, allowing for seamless integration into your painting process.

After about 5 hours the material was dry enough to handle, but I would recommend you just leave the texture overnight to make sure it dries completely before handling. It is possible to find them in a smaller version, but if you intend to use it for basing your whole army, you should probably go with the big version. I’ll show you my method for applying Astrogranite Debris using the Warhammer 40k miniature, Operative Umbral-Six. The girls toy aisles aren't our regular ball park but we occasionally like to try something different to our norm. The Citadel Technical Range offers a wide variety of paints specially formulated to create unique textures, finishes, and effects on your miniatures. I do not find this a huge problem, because I just glue my tufts, skulls and other bits on the newly opened spots, but you need to be aware of this before drybrushing them. You can compare this with other texturing methods I reviewed and decide which one suits you best for a given project. In the following section, I will take a look at three paints that are very similar in texture type but different in colour.
