There’s that underlying message of the fleeting lusts of the street, but the heavy 90s “Salt n’ Peppa” style music and the old 90s gangsta lingo makes it a little harder to take seriously than it really should be. Color Reproduction: Thanks to a showy number of characters and the interiors of certain scenes, there’s a good amount of color found throughout this film that pops. Being the cinematographer for Spike Lee director Ernest Dickenson crashed onto the scene with a stunning debut 25 years ago in the form of Juice, a powerful drama about 4 kids growing up in the hood, but soon falling apart as violence and weapons enter their young world.Viewers will appreciate close-up complexities and both medium and distant object elemental clarity and fine point detail.

In terms of upgradability, that will rely solely on the video quality, as the extras and audio are clones of the 5 year old Blu-ray (which were already excellent to being with). Juice marked the unlikely starting line in the career of David Heyman, a barely 30-year-old Brit who would go on to produce all eight Harry Potter films and other Warner Bros. This film has its heart in the right place, in terms of its coming-of-age depictions of peer pressure, the reckless supposed invincibility of youth, and heartbreaking loss.

If you really like the movie and you've already bought the 4K release, you might as well go on and keep it. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Thanks to having the film set in real Harlem neighborhoods and a proper attempt to maintain the look and feel of the times, there is a great amount of detail to be found in the various homes, businesses, clubs and other settings. Watching the film, I could easily see newer viewers not being as taken by it, given how there are elements that feel dated.
