About this deal

Internally the book is clean, tight and square with no marks or inscriptions other than the author's. I feel this book is ideal for young children – the dark tones of the story such as the death of James’s parents are not described in detail but I feel that children shouldn’t be shied away from issues such as grief, abuse and differences and the book covers these issues in a manner that makes it easy for them to understand and as the protagonist solves the issue, the child would feel secure again knowing that everything turned out well in the end. If you’ve already done that, your item hasn’t arrived, or it’s not as described, you can report that to Etsy by opening a case.

The final style emphasizes my hand drawn line work, and dimension is added not by colour but through repeated textures and patterns. Roald Dahl's style has you entering into the character's shoes and living out his experience like it's your own, especially in this book and his other classic, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Comment: The spine or cover may be slightly worn but the book is otherwise in good condition and will provide thought provoking read! Book fine, small spot rubbed on half-title page, previous owner's inscription on front free end paper. When Tim Burton approached Roald Dahl's widow about his plan to make a film of James and the Giant Peach, she asked him why he wanted to do it. I downloaded this book as I read his paper copy to my grandson over Christmas which we both enjoyed. It was made into the 1996 film produced by Tim Burton and Denise Di Novi, directed by Henry Selick, starring Paul Terry as James. In 1953 Dahl married the actress Patricia Neal; they had three children, to whom he began to tell bedtime stories.

A new edition of this hugely popular story of James and his journey to New York with the strangest group of insect friends. James finds a tunnel in a gigantic peach and enters into a magical world where he befriends seven bugs. The jacket has strong, bright vibrant colors still retaining the strong red/orange tones to the spine (which is most unusual as this title is usually found with faded spines).

This edition preceded the better-known British edition by a full six years, and features color illustrations by Nancy Ekholm Burkert, different from that edition, as well as a subtitle that was later dropped. James and the Giant Peach, the first of these to reach print, is a comic fantasy about a small boy who travels the world inside a huge peach, in company with several giant insects. From the moment the magical Giant Peach appears in James’s unhappy life, sweeps away his deadly Aunts Spiker and Sponge and lifts him off on the adventure of a life time all readers know they are in for a treat.
