During rainfall, the joints become elastic and will harden again in dry conditions, forming a sturdy barrier against weed seeds and insects. Sure, you may need to re-sand the joints every two years as the vibrations from cars or heavy footfall may loosen them over time, but with such a simple brush in application, you’ll have this job done in no time at all! If you went for a DANSAND® product which is meant to create a fixed joint, if the material was dry when you opened the bag and if you followed the instructions on the bag carefully you you should not experience the issue that you describe. The product is dried and based on fine round-edged silica sand, which makes it easy to distribute in the joints.

DANSAND ® joint filling sand has an optimal grain curve, which means that the material packs well in the joints.

It forms secure yet permeable joints, which harden in contact with water to produce tough elastic bonds that won’t crack under pressure! our products have been carefully tested and if applied correctly, they prevent weed seeds in becoming embedded.
