Four stars for this one, although I found it cosy rather than scarey, right down to the music - pure 1950s BBC Home Service! THE SIX MEN (1951) - an old fashioned curiosity but we enjoyed the acting from Harold Warrender as the Scotland yard inspector and Michael Evans as his sidekick.Mary Germaine is tough but warm and attractive, and the other two actresses are also very engaging, particularly gorgeous Patricia Owens, who sadly has only a small part as a model in this, but went on to better things in the US. Mary Germaine hires William Sylvester to accompany her to a rendezvous at a blackmailer's country house even though she suspects he may be a convict on the run in this low-budget B-movie that punches above its weight in the early stages before collapsing under the weight of expectation. The script is clever and witty, and we loved most of the movie, although the suspense lagged a bit towards the end. This proves to be a ride he'll never forget, when the blackmailer is killed by high-tension wires and the rider is accused of the crime.
