About this deal

It quickly established itself as the channel’s most successful original programme that year and a further sixteen episodes have been commissioned for broadcast in 2014 and 2015. The show uses Gorman's usual style of incorporating charts and maps into a story with a ludicrous premise, and was created to pay back the publishers' advance for his unwritten novel. He started at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, from where the show moved to the Sydney Opera House and became the biggest-selling show at the Studio Theatre there.

Gorman describes his work as documentary comedy, and Jason Zinoman compares his style to Steve Martin. I’ve probably made it sound easier than it is, because it turned out to be an emotional journey spanning multiple continents, but you’ll have to read the book to find out all about that. It's an energetic look back at a time of innocence online, when it could be used to meet intelligent, like-minded people up for a bit of quirky fun. He has an open manner and a way of making friends quickly that helps on stage as well as on his journeys. The encryption keys are held on state-of-the-art, tamper proof systems in the same family as those used to secure VeriSign's Global Root certificate, making them all but impossible to extract. It's compelling first because it's funny, in so many different ways I could only tell you "read it and see! Once the information is in Sage Pay's systems, all sensitive data is secured using the same internationally recognised 256-bit encryption standards used by, among others, the US Government. Finally given the heave-ho by Pandora, Adrian Mole finds himself in the situation of living with the love-of-his-life as she goes about shacking up with other men. Ever looked around and wondered if the book you're holding is relevant to the poeple at the bar, to the ordinary guy with his pint. His 2013 TV show, Modern Life Is Goodish, made for UKTV’s Dave channel, saw him dissecting the foibles of modern life in six hour-long comic performances.

He ends up traveling the globe in his quest (funded by an expense account from a publisher who thinks he is working on a novel) and creates something part travelogue, part near-existential-crisis, and part celebration of the bizarre all around us. Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure is similar in premise and format to his previous shows Are You Dave Gorman? Gripped by the obsession of googlewhacking, Gorman traveled three times around the world to meet the unlikeliest cast of real-life eccentrics-codependents to his crippling addiction-and trace the sources of these arcane conjunctions. That is, until a chance encounter during the Armitage Shanks literary awards at the oddly familiar Deja-Vu Club lead Jack and Mary on the hunt for missing journalist Henrietta 'Goldi. Some examples from the book: Unconstructive Superegos, Grandmaster Sticklebacks and Hippocampi Wallpaper. He has everyone he finds play twice so that if one branch of the chain fizzles out, he can try pursuing the others rather than starting from Googlewhack One. Released in 2004, Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack Adventure is the first DVD release of the award-winning comedian’s hit live show, which he has performed to sell-out audiences across the globe.
