About this deal

To obtain such an extraordinary beverage, Crodino mix all the botanicals and leave the extract to stand for up to six months. Other non-essential cookies are used to track visits anonymously and collect information for making reports. This is definitely a different sort of drink and, in its own way, very refreshing; it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but maybe for a more seasoned palette it will be a delight.

Being a B Corp means we’re committed to being a responsible business that has a positive impact for people and the planet, as we work for a world in which people drink mindfully and live well. I thought that the addition of sugar syrup would be unnecessary and wanted to make it more Italian, so I subbed the gin for Grappa. Crodino takes its name from Crodo, a small town located in the North West of Italy, where it has been produced and bottled since 1964, the year of birth of the “Blond” Aperitif. Sparkling, refreshing and bittersweet, Crodino is created from a unique infusion of herbs, spices, woods and roots.Made from a blend of natural extracts, fruit juice, and carbonated water, and has a unique, slightly bitter flavour that is unlike any other non-alcoholic drink on the market. However, if you did want a boozy tipple, Crodino would also be delicious with a measure of gin for a quick and very easy aperitivo cocktail. If you really want the full Aperitivo experience, then we recommend serving Crodino with an assortment of savoury light bites and canapes to nibble as you sip. If you prefer a sweeter drink, you can replace the tonic with sparkling water, lemon-lime soda, or a citrus-flavored soda.

THE TASTE: On the nose, Crodino is characterized by intense citrus and fruit notes with a spicy finish that is reminiscent of herbal extracts and aromatic roots. Thanks to Billy, Alex, Duncan and all the folks at the Whisky Exchange for you enthusiasm, inspiration and encouragement in writing this article.

This alcohol-free mocktail is a perfect summer drink made with a non-alcoholic Crodino bitter and served with mint and a slice of orange. This was delicious: the balance of the vermouth and Crodino, with some freshness added by the lemon and fortification, is just right. Its unique bitter taste comes from an extract still produced according to a secret recipe, with a traditional infusion of carefully selected herbs, spices, woods and roots that are ripened for six months, giving it a distinctive and refreshing aroma. Whilst there are some slightly bitter lemonades and orange fizzy drinks that you can find, Crodino goes one step further and is more bitter and less sweet. The recipe is still a secret and the blonde is particularly fond of it, but some ingredients have missed: cardamom, cloves, coriander and nutmeg. This is reminiscent of an orange flavoured Campari and served on the rocks with a slice of orange became my preferred aperitif whilst on holiday. What got me through was an accidental find in a Carluccio’s restaurant during one of our Club Soda lunch meetups for members. I wish pubs and restaurants in this country would serve more in the way of non alcoholic wines and aperitifs like Crodino.

It all started with the careful selection of ingredients: herbs, spices, woods and roots of the highest quality from all over the world. Crodino has been relaunched by Campari in recent years in terms of image and communication and has cemented its position as the most famous and drunk non-alcoholic aperitif in Italy.I was interested in Crodino as a drink, but in addition, given the nature of this site, it’s mixer potential appealed immensely. When I first decided to go alcohol-free (nearly 6 years ago now), the choice of drinks on offer was a bit lacking. It is said that the drink is offered as a token of esteem and as a wish of success to guests (mainly in the field of love). While we have taken care in preparing this summary and believe it is accurate, it is not a substitute for your reading the product packaging and label prior to use.
